Tabula: creative kitchens at Salone del Mobile 2016

The kitchen has always been the protagonist of our homes, a place not only given over to food preparation but also a convivial setting where people get together with family and friends; a single living space to experience in comfort and where you’re able to unleash your creativity.

Tabula is the new artisanal kitchen that satisfies the needs of contemporary living with a variety of customization possibilities, a broad range of finishes and a harmonious juxtaposition between materials. The project was conceived in 2015 by a group of six friends as they sat around a centuries-old walnut table, supported by iron trestles, in a woodworker’s shop: a setting as artisanal and authentic #tabula. It was in this way that the designer Enrico Pasa and the historical company Trento & Bizzotto, specializing in the construction of kitchens with quality materials and traditional methods, decided to create an innovative product with a distinctively contemporary style, a designer kitchen created for ad hoc solutions, composed of systems with a strong identity that integrate and complement each other with flexibility in size, materials and aesthetics to give substance to #design lovers’ visions.

Tabula is a collection of open systems: in addition to traditional finishes such as columns, bases and wall units, the offer is enhanced with complete solutions to furnish living spaces such as the ‘wall system’ – which can be specified to the centimeter – with fronts that, for the size and material, may be clad with a different finish or replaced in a way that’s natural for the existing walls. The preferred materials are wood, iron, and natural stone combined with other, alternative and high-tech materials such as paperstone and cement resins for the production of the accessories. The wood, available in solid oak, heat-treated Austrian Larch, and pre-patinated fir, is processed in large planks.

Design, select raw materials, and artisanship combine in a continual encounter between knowledge, methods, and experiences. Tabula’s furnishing plans are the result of an idea: giving shape and substance to the beautiful, interacting with the space and its configurations each time creating different sensations.
