Alfa Romeo and Abarth design awarded by auto, motor und sport

  •  More than 18,000 readers of the famous German magazine cast their votes to award the "Autonis" prize.
  • Alfa Romeo took the "Design Brand 2016" award and two category accolades with Giulia and Mito.
  • Abarth 595 won in the "Minicar" category repeating the success of the earlier model in 2008.

The allure of Italian #design won over the expert readers of the German magazine auto, motor und sport who awarded no fewer than four prizes of the "Autonis 2016" competition divided into 11 categories to Alfa Romeo and #abarth.

More in detail, Alfa Romeo was elected "Design Brand of the Year" garnering 24.7 percent of the votes and won two category rankings. The sporty new Giulia came first in the mid-size vehicle category reaping more than half of the votes (54.3 percent), while the compact MiTo tallied a remarkable 59.3 percent of the votes in the small car category. Interestingly, Alfa Romeo had already won an "Autonis" award in 2010 when the readers of auto, motor und sportnamed Giulietta "Best Car" in the "Mid-size" category.

"We are honoured and humbled by the appreciation we are receiving from German #auto enthusiasts for Alfa Romeo" said #klausbusse, Head of #design EMEA, during the award ceremony in Stuttgart. "Receiving these #design awards for Alfa Romeo brand as well as the Mito and Giulia, is further encouragement for us at Centro Stile to continue to create emotional Italian #design.

Great success also for the brand with the scorpion badge which won in the "Minicar" category with the 595 repeating the success of the earlier mode that won the same prize in 2008. This year, #abarth 595 garnered more than half of the votes (56.5 percent) thus reasserting the attraction of the recently refreshed car. #klausbusse commented: "We are very thankful to have received this important #design award for the #abarth 595, which is a recognition of the team work of the designers at Centro Stile and the engineers at #abarth, that resulted in a perfect blend of Italian #design and performance.
Available in two versions (sedan or convertible), 595 #abarth comes with three trim levels (595, 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione) and just as many engine powers (145 HP, 165 HP and 180 HP) to satisfy today's increasingly demanding and competent customers. Many implemented upgrades are the result of the experience acquired with the development of the 695 Biposto, dubbed "the smallest supercar".
