Garden Layers, where east meets west

The #design of GARDEN LAYERS, the first outdoor collection produced by GAN, was inspired by the age-old customs of the Mughal Indians, where they would adopt a relaxed horizontal posture on rugs and cushions within their gardens and terraces, which itself was passed down from the Persians. Patricia Urquiola was keen to lend this Oriental tradition a more contemporary interpretation by creating a completely innovative space that invites rest and relaxation in nature, but using innovative high-tech materials and modern aesthetics.

The originality of her proposal lies not only in her own personal stamp which the designer lends to all her designs, but also within the approach to outdoor space that breaks down differences between furniture and rugs in several of the constituent pieces (rugs, mattresses, roll pillows and cushions), all capable of being combined together.
