Gan Rugs - Twiggy, an homage to op-art rendered in jute

Twiggy was named after the twig-like branches fanning out in geometrical patterns, providing the overall motif across the rug in an almost hypnotic exercise in Op-art.

The latest creation from GAN features pure and natural jute fibres, which, due to their natural properties, can form knots just like “twigs” do, as well as subtle differences in coloration. When in contact with bare feet, #TWIGGY recalls our connection with simple and natural raw materials.

Jute is one of the most resistant natural fibres out there, and it is also used in the manufacture of rugs and carpets for its insulation and anti-static properties. In addition, it is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. #TWIGGY combines two colours: raw (gold) and black. As with Op-art works, the chromatic contrast, the parallel lines and the repetition of forms create a suggestive optical effect.

TWIGGY is reversible, produced on a hand loom according to the kilim traditions.
