Casalgrande Padana. Bios Self-Cleaning® wins an Architizer A+ Award
in the “Building Products – Façades” category. Red carpet in New York on 14 May, during NYCxDesign
In Jay McInerney’s famous novel Bright Lights, Big City, the protagonist’s name is never revealed. This is not the case with Casalgrande Padana, whose name is spelt out clearly under the New York spotlights of the prestigious Architizer A+ Awards as a winner in the “Façades” category with Bios Self-Cleaning®.
Now in their third year, the international A+ Awards were created and promoted by the Architizer website (architizer.com), which has a million visitors every month, more than 150,000 registered users and has been called the “Facebook for architects” by the authoritative New York Times. Thanks to their distinctive web-based approach, the A+ Awards present one of the most comprehensive overviews of the finest output in the fields of architecture, design and innovation for components, materials and construction systems. The entries in the 90 categories for the awards came from more than 100 countries worldwide.
The winners were selected by two separate groups: a panel of over 300 experts in the different areas (for the Jury Winners) and the more than two million followers of the website, who had their say by casting 40,000 votes online (for the Popular Choice winners). No other architecture awards have such a broad basis of assessment and such an open selection and award-giving system with such high participation levels. Consequently, the fact that Casalgrande Padana’s Bios Self-Cleaning® tiles were named the Popular Choice in the Building Products - Façades category is particularly significant. It means yet more undisputed recognition of the Italian company’s product quality and outstanding research in the field of bioactive ceramics and advanced envelopes for architecture. The winners will head to New York on 14 May for the international A+ Awards Gala at Highline Stages. It will be followed by an after party at The Jane Hotel.
It is all part of the packed schedule of happenings and events taking place for NYCxDesign. Details of all of the winning entries will be gathered together in a book that will be specially produced for the A+ Awards, thanks to a partnership between Architizer and the prestigious publisher Phaidon.
