RITI, on display a collection of works realized by Peppino Lopez and the team of Recycled Stones

RITI is the exhibition dedicated to #design, with the support of the Jubilee of Mercy, the City of Rome, and the authority of Regione Lazio. It is set inside the Basilica of Santo Stefano Rotondo al Celio, in Rome. On display there is a collection of works realized by #peppinolopez and the team of Recycled Stones, and their intention is to create something new from stone quarry scrap material. The contents of this exhibition are related to the concepts of reflection and consideration proposed by the Holy Year. With these works comes the exhortation to break bread and to share, all together, like in a big feast. The objects in display become emblems, symbols, banners, in a way that goes beyond their physical structure. And above all: the stone. Majestic and everlasting. In the works of Recycled Stones, these fragments of raw material, apparently worthless, acquire an invaluable meaning, especially as they are meant to be given as a gift. They tell ancient stories, keeping and preserving them, acting as a link between man and his history through the centuries. In the works of #peppinolopez, marble and molten rock are skilfully put together and assembled. The hard nature of marble dust is a perfect match to the elegance of Sicilian lace. The transparency of the glass is put in contrast with the plumbeous texture of the molten rock. Designed or crafted, these collections show us the millennial history of these stones. Everyday objects that are expressions of old traditions and daily rituals passed on through time, falling in between present and past.
