Laminam at Marmomacc 2016

LAMINAM, a leader in the production of large-sized, ultra-thin ceramic slabs for exteriors and interiors, confirms its participation for the fourth year in a row at the Marmomacc of #verona, the landmark international trade fair for operators in the natural stone value chain.

A symbol of excellence and innovation of Italian industry in the world, LAMINAM ended 2015 with a turnover of over 50 million and continues along its path of growth. A new production line was set up last year in the company’s main headquarters of Fiorano Modenese. This was joined by two new factories, one in Borgotaro (Parma-Italy), scheduled to open on 27 September, and one in Balabanovo, Russia, which will allow the company to triple its production capacity.

In this context of growth, #laminam renews its participation in the #verona fair with a minimalist stand measuring 160 sqm where the undisputed star is the 1620x3240mm, 12 mm thick, slab designed for horizontal surfaces, from tables to bathroom tops and kitchen countertops, for indoor and outdoor use. Launched during the last edition, the series of extra-large slabs have now been enriched by 14 new standard surfaces: from the purity of white that evokes rarefied atmospheres, up to the extreme elegance of black that gives every setting a strong character. Designers and customers have a wide range of choices that multiplies the spectrum of expressive possibilities.

In conjunction with the exhibition, where the product expresses its aesthetic and technical qualities, LAMINAM’s story is completed through a dialogue that holds the world in an embrace inside of which beats an Italian heart. The narrative takes the form of a film dossier “Cutting edge” (Direction: Raffaello Fusaro, Videomaker: Gianluca Bomben, Art Direction: Alessandra Stefani), which is projected onto a large LED wall positioned at the centre of the stand. It gives a preview of the “behind the scenes” look at the creative process, opening a dialogue with the professionals who experiment with the natural material to accommodate it to their needs: marble workers and transformers. A real fulcrum of the #laminam narration, this documentary gives a voice to these professionals, who for the first time talk about their experience and the special skills needed to ensure that the ceramic material is processed with great skill and attention to detail all over the world. The transformation of ceramic slabs has a lot in common with the method of natural stone, with one immediate advantage: #laminam porcelain stoneware makes the marble worker’s job much easier because the raw material is already flat and “shaped”, ready to be worked. The documentary consists of three interviews each lasting about 30 minutes and created at transforming companies based in Milan, Long Island (NY) and London, selected from the companies that best understood the advantages of our product and that work with ceramic slabs on a daily basis.

The dual presentation thus guides the visitor on a journey which, starting from the ceramic surfaces, embraces different cultures and knowledge, demonstrating the openness to the world and desire to share which has always characterised the company.

This philosophy comes to life inside an exhibition space that shows off all the new colour shades, starting from white, passing through grey and finishing with black. With a surface area of 1620x3240x12mm, the hygienic and antibacterial slabs from the Calce Collection, colour Bianco, are inspired by wet plaster and industrial cement, and the Bianco Statuario Venato Soft Touch, Calacatta Oro Venato Lucidato and Noir Desir Lucidato finishes of the Cava Collection, which magnify the natural veining effects of marble, are used as horizontal tops for tables and reception desks. To create an effect of visual continuity, the floor and walls are covered in Calce Grigio slabs in the 1000x3000mm format with thickness of 3.5mm, whose soft colours and delicate shades are inspired by wet plaster and industrial cement. The setting is enclosed by an abstract technical perimeter along which the 12 new 1620x3240x12mm textures of the Cava collection and the two newest additions of the Legno Venezia collection are positioned horizontally on “A Frame” supports in metal. They are the same ones used at the end of the production cycle, which were specially designed to be layered without compromising their integrity.

To demonstrate the most impressive features of the #laminam material, the stand transforms into a stage where a series of technical demonstrations are performed. Everyday a chef tests the material’s resistance to scratching, high temperatures, intense cold, humidity, chemical products and detergents, which make it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor applications. In the same spirit as the opening to the world, each day the chef explores many culinary cultures, taking visitors on a journey that teases the palate with only one constant: the ceramic surface is used as a working base.

Right from the first glance, the #design choices of the stand reflect the experimental DNA and unique philosophy of LAMINAM: a brand synonymous with innovative materials – a revolutionary slab coming from a manufacturing technique that has no equal in the world – forever in search of new goals and stimuli aimed at discovering new possible faces for the ceramic, combining reason, desire, passion and expressiveness.

THE REVOLUTIONARY CERAMIC SLAB BY #laminam, IN THE FORMAT 1620x3240x12mm FOR HORIZONTAL INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SURFACES

The extreme lightness and excellent properties of the material allow the #laminam 12mm-thick, 1620x3240mm ceramic slabs to be used as the preferred material for horizontal surfaces, from tables to bathroom tops and kitchen countertops, offering an alternative to materials such as marble and stone with a higher cost and environmental impact.

THE PROPERTIES: OUTDOOR USE

The pure natural surfaces of #laminam ceramic slabs make them perfect for outdoor environments, as the preferred material for outdoor horizontal surfaces and tables.

In fact, the material reaches its full potential in an outdoor setting, offering excellent resistance:

against UV rays (the chromatic properties do not change when exposed to sunlight)

against low and high temperatures (frost-proof)

against humidity (does not change in size)

THE PROPERTIES: INDOOR USE

The stability of the material and high resistance combine with other fundamental properties of the #laminam ceramic slab, making it an excellent material for all indoor horizontal surfaces, from tables to bathroom tops and kitchen countertops. The #laminam surface passes the most stringent tests as demonstration of its excellence, thus allowing the direct use on ceramic material of blades, food and chemical products.

In addition to its inherently hygienic nature, the #laminam ceramic slabs do not release elements in solution, therefore they are completely food-safe and resistant:

against scratches and deep cuts

against the onset of mould and fungi

against stains, even the most stubborn such as wine, coffee, lemon and olive oil

against chemical products such as acids, bases, solvents and disinfectants, which do not cause the properties of the slabs to change

AESTHETICS OF THE NEW SLABS

The 1620x3240x12mm slabs combine the excellent properties of the material with a strong and sculpted look.

Proposed in 5 collections inspired by elements such as concrete, marble, wood, iron and solid backgrounds that combine the charm of yesterday with the language of today, the 1620x3240x12mm series offers a total of 29 surfaces for creating truly evocative atmospheres.
