Ceramiche Refin at Coverings 2018

Atlanta, USA _ May 8- 11, 2018 Georgia World Congress Centre Booth #2221 Ceramics of Italy Pavillion

Ceramiche #refin has chosen Coverings, the largest tile and stone show in North America, to showcase its brand new collection #masterplan, that is not only a testament to product quality but also to the intensive and continual research that #refin undertakes in order to improve its product offer.

The message that Ceramiche #refin wants to convey to the visitors of Coverings 2018 is its ability to offer solutions that are always original and have a personality of their own. To prove its great ability to meet different needs, the Italian company puts on display for the very first time the new #masterplan line, which includes three different collections: Block, Mold and Plain.

A careful research of the many peculiarities of concrete, one of the most used materials in today’s construction, is the fil rouge to Block, Mold and Plain, three lines featuring different characteristics brought together in the #masterplan collection. A broad range of different materials inspired by reinforced concrete in its modern version, an homage to the determined charm of industrial concrete.

Block draws inspiration from concrete in the form closest to the natural elements it is made of: rock, clay and limestone. It pays homage to the extraordinary ability of concrete to embody the sturdiness of stone while taking multiple, innovative shapes. Concrete becomes a sort of “molten” rock able to take any shape and last a long time. In Block, gravel and rocks of varying coarseness emerge to the surface, as if immersed in concrete in a semi-liquid state.

Concrete was originally made by mixing gravel with lime, water and river sand. These elements inspired the Mold collection, which stands out for gravel clusters of varying sizes scattered randomly, which remind of fresh concrete casts in formworks or moulds, two techniques where concrete material is processed until it reaches a shape of its own. The result is a dynamic surface with clear chiaroscuro effects, suitable to match with classic interiors and rather urban ambiances.

Plain evokes the concrete in this latter, newer function: used by the greatest masters of contemporary architecture, concrete is taking a new role, moving from being a construction material to being a surface finish for architectural projects. The Plain surface distinguishes itself for slight clouding and more or less marked patterns, light micro-cracks, that usually form when the concrete volume shrinks by effect of thermal excursion and small holes (pitting) formed by air bubbles trapped between the cast and the formwork. It is rich with detailed marks and shades; from a distance it appears as a solid, consistent and compact space.

The three lines of the #masterplan collection are available in white (Mist) and three shades of grey (light/Cinder, dark/Iron, muddy/Nickel), in the 120x120, 75x150, 75x75, 60x60 and 30x60 sizes, either with a matt or soft finish, this last one with a very pleasant tactile texture. Moreover the Plain range is complemented by the Brick cladding, inspired by the small bricks that line the inner walls of old factories, the décor Fragment, where the coloured background creates a geometric and harmonious composition, and the décor Doodle characterized by a free and impulsive trait inspired by Jean Dubuffet’s Art Brut, much like the famous scribbles.

Together with #masterplan, the #refin booth display will also include Prestigio, Kasai and Gaja.

Prestigio, the successful marble-look series that was already launched by #refin in recent years, will be presented at Coverings in the new shade white Dolomite size 75x150cm, together with the already existing black Marquinia colour in the large format 120x240cm.

Kasai, the collection that pays homage to Japanese #design which was successfully launched by #refin during the last edition of Cersaie in Bologna, will be shown also at Coverings in the black “Notte” (Night) variant together with the Kintsugi decorative tiles.

In addition to these collections, visitors will also see Gaja, a collection drawing its inspiration from the power and sophistication of quartzite stone. With its pure and essential texture available in four delicate hues and a broad range of sizes, Gaja allows to match the charm of a natural material with the rigorous proportions of contemporary architecture, resulting in harmonious compositions.

Thanks to such a wide, rich and cutting-edge product range Ceramiche #refin confirms its position as leading trend-setting company in an ever-changing market scenario.
