Revolution Archstudio - Roberto Bellantoni Fuorisalone 2018 - 17/22 April

Structures in burnished brass and light satin finish, seats in printed leather, large sizes and a sense of temporariness that clashes with their solidity: these are the common denominators of the pieces in the ЯA Collection, which are inspired on the sensations and emotions that the land of the South of Africa conveys and forever impresses on its visitors’ minds. Roberto Bellantoni has designed a highly impactful series of products that are characterised by a powerful, almost “virile” #design, and are at the same time poetic in the colours, which are inspired on the pink light of the sky at dawn and dusk, on the golden sun, on its bronze reflections on the water of the river Chobe, and on the red soil and mud. By re-codifying these elements in a modern key, which is necessarily and deeply far-removed from an ethnic language, this collection evokes the idea of the journey into distant lands, in favour of a contemporary “urban nomadism” that often forces us to move around and favour light and easily transportable furniture. Each element hovers between the solidity of the shape and the actual lightness of the brass structure, which is obtained thanks to the thin sections and the relationship between full and empty spaces. Characterised by top-quality artisanal stitching and finishings, which are typical of Made in Italy products, the collection includes lamps that look like lanterns, a day-bed inspired on a foldable cot, and the seats of the Clifton series, which seem to be assembled in a hurry to enjoy a moment of relaxation. Other proposals include the round table Chobe, the low table/tray Stellenbosh, and the floor lamp Victoria, which, with its long Led arm, is reminiscent of the famous waterfall. The name of every product is inspired on a specific place or person encountered in the South of Africa that particularly impressed the designer and pushed him to transform the sensations and emotions they gave him into #design creations.
