Presenting the wicker version of Poul Kjærholm’s first chair

Over the course of his career, Poul Kjærholm mastered a wide range of materials and techniques. Kjærholm’s interest in hand-woven baskets made him particularly fascinated with wicker, and his very first chair #design – the 1955 PK1 dining chair – featured steel and hand-woven wicker. Carl Hansen & Son is now presenting this light and elegant wicker chair.

The internationally renowned furniture designer Poul Kjærholm, whom Carl Hansen & Son added to its portfolio in 2016, ranks among the greatest Danish furniture designers of the Golden Age of Danish #design. Last year, Carl Hansen & Son presented Kjærholm’s elegant PK1 dining chair in a steel and flag halyard combination. Now, true to the designer’s original vision, the Danish furniture manufacturer is introducing yet another addition to its Poul Kjærholm collection: the PK1 with a steel frame and wicker seat and back.
