SOLLOS makes its West Coast debut The Brazilian brand takes pride of place in the new LUMINAIRE® showroom in Los Angeles


SOLLOS by #jaderalmeida, the Brazilian brand known worldwide for the first-rate #design that identifies elegant and timeless collections, has been selected by #luminaire – the celebrated American #design multi-brand retailer – to personalize a part of the new showroom in #losangeles, which will open on 28 November at 8840 Beverly Boulevard, West Hollywood.

The idea of collaborating with #sollos arose from a meeting with #jaderalmeida, artistic director and designer of the firm, which took place last April in Milan. During Milan’s #design Week, Nasir Kassamali, founder of #luminaire along with his wife, was fascinated by the extremely high-quality #design of SOLLOS’ collections. This was the first step of a #partnership based on the shared values of pure, minimal, functional #design, resulting into SOLLOS’s premium exposure at the new showroom in #losangeles, 6,000 square meters of space meant to become a cornerstone of California metropolis #design community.

It is rare to find a young designer these days that has the sensibility of the old masters”, observes Nasir Kassamali. “Jader Almeida is one of them. He reads wood like an ancient language. We are very happy that he is now part of the roster of international designers at Luminaire”.

Conceived and designed by Nasir Kassamali, the new #luminaire showroom dedicates a section of the second floor to #sollos, featuring multi-award-winning historic products along with the most recent proposals of the Brazilian brand. 

Among the products on display, the fluid lines of the Mad lounge chair are wisely orchestrated to create a pleasing rhythm along with the slenderness of the rattan straw. The Easy and Norma armchairs inspire a perfect balance of lightness and sturdiness also generating a harmony of solids and voids. The sofa Box has got a unique contemporary allure characterized by the contrast between the symmetry of the rectangular base and the asymmetry of the feather cushions.

The lighting collection is represented by the harmonic and elementary lines of the Penn wall lamp, assembled like a fine piece of jewelry, whose incandescent bulb recalls Thomas Edison’s classic one.

Accessories are also on display, such as the practical and discreet Asti side tables and Jardim coffee tables, designed to be used in different environments and arranged in different configurations, colors and heights; the Teca bar cart, versatile and light thanks to a carbon steel structure; and finally Clerk, an elegant support for umbrellas and walking sticks with delicate steel, brass and marble finishes.

The collaboration with LA #luminaire is an important step in the worldwide expansion of #sollos. The Brazilian brand aims to activate an ever-wider network of points of sale and to consolidate the existing ones, thereby confirming its strong international vocation. #sollos is present today in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States.
