The Design Prize: third edition of the international award celebrating design excellence inaugurates Milan Design Week 2019 prestigious Gala Ceremony to be held at Triennale di Milano on April 9

Milan, February 27th2019

Now in its third edition, THE #design #prize has become an institution of the city of Milan. By forging a new partnership with Triennale di #milano and under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, the highly-anticipated #event cements its status as a democratic, free and participatory award, which calls on the international creative community for nominations.

In celebration of the most extraordinary achievements of 2018 across a range of creative disciplines, THE #design #prize has chosen Triennale di #milano to host this year’s award ceremony and gala - an esteemed institution that best represents Milan as the capital of #design and culture. The evening will see ten winners presented with the iconic Golden Madonnina Award - a ceramic statuette that has been designed and realized for the occasion by Antonio Aricò.

Edison, one of the largest energy companies in Italy, has been a partner and promoter of the initiative since its inception in 2017. This year, Edison continues its collaboration with THE #design #prize, the international award dedicated to project culture, which is also a virtuous expression of co-planning based on the efficient use of resources for the construction of a sustainable future. Edison brings its unique experience, know-how, and 130-year-long history in the energy sector to THE #design #prize, helping foster a horizontal approach to #design. Together with the leading professionals and architects, Edison proposes intelligent solutions for cities and people in favor of a more evolved and sustainable lifestyle.

In drawing up the nominations, THE #design #prize has consulted a worldwide scientific committee of designers, journalists, curators, critics, lecturers, scholars and institutional figures. This international network presents a longlist of nominations, with selections distributed across ten award categories that recognize #design culture at its core.
