ex.t - MILAN DESIGN WEEK

Along with the upgrade of successful collections such as #arco (Mut Design) #stand & Rest (Norm Architects), Ribbon (Sebastian Herkner), #fuse (Note #design Studio), Ex.t presents the brand new #nouveau collection (Bernhardt&Vella) enriched with a whole line of bathroom accessories, in exclusive preview for MDW 2019.

Modularity, versatility and functionality are the main features that Ex.t continues to propose, offering an idea of bathroom as a dynamic living space able to transform and renew itself continuously, following the rhythms of contemporary living.

Nouveau

2019 is the year of a female duo - Paola Vella and Ellen Bernhardt. Two women, friends and professionals with a common vision of #design based on emotion and poetry. For the first time they challenge themselves by designing for bathroom interiors, using a creative approach that comes from the home #design world. For Ex.t they’ve created #nouveau: a collection of washbasins, cabinets and mirrors featuring geometric and sinuous lines, born from a balance of basic and classic shapes such as circles, semi-circles and parallelepipeds, creating a game of volumes in a succession of full and empty spaces. Freely inspired by early twentieth century Art Deco, the collection takes refined suggestions from that era and reworks them with the taste and sensitivity of a contemporary perspective.

Nouveau washbasin is characterised by asymmetrical shapes with bold edges that serve as practical support surfaces. It can be wall mounted or a countertop - supported by a metal structure that elegantly defines its shape. The structure is available in brushed bronze, satin-finish brass or matt black finishes and can be combined with various accessories such as towel rails, wooden drawers, marble or stone storage tops to offer a functional and complete product. With #nouveau, for the first time Ex.t adds colour to a collection of LivingTecR washbasins. The first colour proposal is Rosa Cipria, a refined and antique hue.

The collection, unveiled for the first time during Maison&Objet in January 2019, enriches with a whole line of bathroom accessories: towel holders, paper holders both freestanding and wall mounted, hooks, shelves and two beauty mirrors.

Arco

Precisely one year ago, in collaboration with Spanish #design studio Mut, Ex.t launched #arco, a multifunctional bathroom system featuring a mirror, washbasin, hidden storage shelves and integrated taps.

During Milan #design Week 2019 #arco conveys all its versatility presenting a full collection which reinvents and broadens the traditional bathroom space. The result is #arco S, an elegant round console in white LivingTecR with a black or brass metal frame. Like the original, #arco S features a hidden shelving system on the back to store small objects along with a washbasin and taps, it has also been conceived in a home version, as a unique vanity console or a piece of furniture for the entrance of your home. The geometric oval and round shapes along with versatility and multifunctionality are the main features of the entire collection, now complemented with a series of smaller mirrors with hidden shelves: #arco Mirror (available horizontal and vertical) and #arco S Mirror. Conceived by the designers as accessories these mirrors offer many options: they can be set together thanks to a game of different depths or used as single objects in many living spaces.

Stand

Another novelty showcased for the firts time during MDW 19 are two #stand mirrors, iconic brand’s collection since 2015. Featuring a soft minimalism, trademark of Danish studio Norm Architects, the shapes and finishes of this two mirrors match perfectly with #stand consoles oval & round, with black and brass structure.

Rest Louge Chair

Norm Architects enrich Rest collection with a small upholstered armchair. The #design is inspired by the way Japanese people use to sit on the floor and lean on the surrounding furniture to rest: thus, the low and wide backrest, can be a regular support for the back when in a sitting position or a comfortable support for a short rest if standing. Like the entire Rest line, the small armchair is characterized by a tubular metal structure refined with small brass details. Available in black eco- leather or green velvet, the cushion and backseat create a graphic game of circles that overlap when viewed from different angles.

Ribbon Square

Sebastian Herkner, nominated by Maison & Objet designer of the year 2019, enriches Ribbon collection launched in Milan 2018 with #ribbonsquare: a square-shaped wall-mounted washbasin with small dimensions, designed for cosy spaces. Like the oval sink and the bathtub, #ribbonsquare is made in LivingTecR and finished with a satin steel or brass band, a functional and aesthetic element that inspires the entire collection, giving brightness and preciousness to the product.

Fuse

Another best seller of Ex.t catalogue, #fuse lamps designed in 2013 by Swedish studio Note #design Studio get enhanced of two new shades: green and brown. #fuse lamps combine Italian craftsmanship with the essence of Nordic aesthetics, in a perfect blend of materials and style. The sense of touch and the visual impact play a fundamental role in #fuse lamps #design: the soft porcelain creates a stylistic continuum with the small wooden hat that lights up when the lamp is on, giving warmness to the whole room.

Ex.t Flagship store

During Milan #design Week 2019 is also taking place the opening of the newly renovated Ex.t Flagship store in Via Tortona 34. A space conceived to tell the essence and identity of Ex.t brand, that now finds its more effective and authentic expression. Designed by Bernhardt&Vella, the showroom is located inside an industrial complex. The architectural structure is characterized by a spatial division to follow the original structure. Main feature of the project is the contrast between light and shadow: a large and bright space where semi-transparent glasses and marbles highlight the lightness of the products, against a more intimate space where a theatrical atmosphere is created through bold colours.
