UNKOWN FURNITURE Lava Furniture - Nature Shaped By Hand
Unknown Furniture presents unique furniture made of lava. The award winning designer #raimondscirulis is the inventer of the furniture in the [BLACK] series and the first in the world to work with lava in furniture #design.
The world of #lavafurniture is exiting and new. The flexibility and unique qualities of the material knows no bounds for creating innovative designs. The [BLACK] series presents furniture in different sizes and shapes. However, they all have one thing in common: they are unique and never indifferent. The lava is also known as volcanic basalt - by many known as the “green industrial material of the 21st century”. The basalt stones are found in the crust of the Earth. The stones are heated to 1450 degrees Celsius and the liquid mass is pressed through nozzles to produce long fibers. With these fibers each furniture is shaped by hand.
The furniture in the [BLACK] series finds the perfect combination of material, aesthetic and functionality. Due to the material the furniture have extraordinary qualities;
- Light weight and remarkable strength. E.g. a Bios Hide weighs only 30 kg but can carry 320 kg.
- Sound reduction. The material absorbs sound. There is a difference of 4.4 decibel inside vs. outside a nest. This represents a cut of the noise by half.
- Viable in an agressive environment. The furniture is not affected by salt and chlorine and can be placed near the sea or by the pool.
- Absorbs heat. Even on a hot summer day the furniture does not get fiery hot.
- Resists UV radiation. The furniture can be left out all year round - in sun and snow.
- No need for maintenance.
During the Milan #design Week #unknownfurniture will exhibit a selection of products at Din - #design In 2019 (via Massimiano 6 / Via Sbodio 9) in the heart of the Lambrate #design District.
