Art and design: Richard Ginori at Milan Design Week 2019

Among the Florentine company’s original projects, the new Il Viaggio di Nettuno collection created in collaboration with multifaceted London-based artist, Luke Edward Hall, and the personalizable #coronamonogram collection.

Art and #design, but also allusions, mythology and playful evocations for #richardginori at Milan #design Week 2019, the eagerly-awaited international #design #event.

Protagonist is the new Il Viaggio di Nettuno collection, the result of the encounter between multifaceted London-based artist Luke Edward Hall and the Florentine company. Inspired by the designer’s love of Greco-Roman mythology, and particularly Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, and his wife Salacia, the collection represents an unconventional vision of the art of the table, a dialogue between classical and modern. Drawings of the gods decorate plates, placeholders, cups and vases, and bold, unexpected colours infuse the chinaware with personality. With Il Viaggio di Nettuno collection, the Florentine maison reinterprets the table in a modern vein with uniquely designed objects that are veritable artistic installations.

The spotlight will also be on the #coronamonogram collection, where for the first time #richardginori offers the opportunity to create a unique, personal mise en place. Initials are the protagonists of a decoration that personalizes white porcelain bread, dessert, dinner and soup plates, placeholders and mugs. #coronamonogram is perfect to mix with the various #richardginori collections to create exclusive combinations of white and decorated chinaware.

Among the novelties is #charm, a tribute to gold and white for the pieces of the collection dedicated to Christmas, with Richard Ginori’s classic style cannons combining with modern elegance. Key pieces are distinguished by the iconic shapes of the Manufactory’s Vecchio Ginori line.

Richard Ginori also presents the #giardinodelliris capsule collection of entirely hand-painted table centrepieces and vases celebrating the ephemeral beauty of flowers, in new shades of yellow and purple. Cucù, the collection dedicated to childhood and decorated with a series of illustrations, is offered in a new shade of green.

During Milan #design Week, #richardginori will present a preview of a new symbol for its #totem collection – the rat, a much-admired creature in the East, and also the first sign of the Chinese Zodiac. The symbol of wisdom, he is entrusted with the task of mediator between heaven and earth, between the spiritual and the material. Richard Ginori’s light-hearted depiction of the new symbol in a library setting features on two new objects, a change tray and a mug, a foretaste of the entire #totem collection which will be unveiled in January 2020. Richard Ginori presents #florentia, the new collection by Japanese designer Akira Minagawa. A tableware collection that fuses Akira’s eastern style with the western approach of the Florentine maison.

Richard Ginori sites during Milan #design Week 2019:

Salone del Mobile.Milan – Fiera #milano Rho, Hall 1 Stand F 08 – an immense kaleidoscope forms the evocative introduction to the maison’s exhibition space. Here the Manufactory’s decorative motifs come alive to catch the visitor’s eye. An experiential display made even more fascinating by original background music created especially for each collection by Valentin Huedo, an Ibiza-based DJ and music producer with an international following. An emotional game, where surfaces come to life and change as light passes over them, shaking up traditional ways of presenting collections. The display then continues in different areas: a room in shades of pinks that reveals Il Viaggio di Nettuno, the collection designed in collaboration with Luke Edward Hall, a welcoming lounge area and a central room dedicated to #richardginori tableware and giftware collections. Presented in this area will be a preview of the new augmented virtual reality configurator which offers the opportunity to select items from among the Manufactory’s most emblematic collections to create a completely unique and personal mise en place.

Carlo e Camilla in Segheria in via Meda 24 - from 13 to 14 April – is the FuoriSalone location, which together with the #richardginori flagship store in Piazza San Marco 3 – from 8 to 14 April – in the heart of the Brera district, will house Richard Ginori’s new collections dedicated to #design week.
