Minotti @ Salone del Mobile 2019

THE EXHIBITION CONCEPT

2019 marks the affirmation of a new stylistic language for #minotti that embraces a fresh new approach to decor, mixing different styles and creating a new vision of interior #design.

As expression of the brand’s ongoing evolution looking to the future, strong in its ability to renew itself constantly and to welcome the voices of designers from different cultural backgrounds, this new approach is revealed in the architecture of the exhibition project for the #salonedelmobile.Milano, and shows a powerful synergy with the products on display. A compositional language of striking impact – that takes shape through fluid forms, highlighted by the use of plaster and by the white walls that mould the surfaces with a three-dimensional effect – creates a dynamic and exciting set design for the exhibit space.

The interior #design concept for this area, covering 2,000 sqm, involves a play of organic shapes and curving lines that mark out the space in a fluid way, with sinuous walls made of wood and plaster and featuring complex geometric patterns and bas-reliefs. The entire surface is covered with a brushed larch-wood floor, creating visual continuity and highlighting the full extent of the exhibition area.

Visitors are welcomed by a large circular reception area covered entirely in mirror-effect steel, and then attracted by unusual features, starting with the large circular embrasure opening in the ceiling, designed as an oculus, which comes into view as people enter the mezzanine level near the entrance, where visitor flow is at its peak.

The central aisle divides the exhibition space into two distinct areas.

An imposing floor-to-ceiling window marks off the largest area, with a portion of the ceiling at double height; access to this area is through a corridor featuring a light box in the ceiling and a long wall in grooved plaster. On the internal side, the wall features a striking graphic pattern created by #minotti Studio, with a geometric interplay of curves, which is also reproduced in the large rugs with tufting of different heights.

The same feature appears as a graphic sign on the invitation to Salone del Mobile.Milano 2019 and on the cover of the Indoor catalogue.

In the centre of the living area is a large fireplace, an element that is a constant symbolic presence in the #minotti environments; here it is a free standing version with an organic, dynamic shape, featuring an abstract pattern in bas-relief that enlivens the surfaces, suggesting dynamism and originality.

In response to the idea of a large living area, the exhibit space is organized into relaxation, dining, conversation and outdoor zones, highlighting all the elements of the 2019 Collection, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, Christophe Delcourt, Nendo, Marcio Kogan / studio mk27 and GamFratesi.
The settings express a particularly radiant mood, where the spectrum of colours, created exclusively for the fabrics and leathers, emphasizes the plasticity of the shapes and the choice of materials, and highlights the textures of the surfaces, suggesting the idea of a home with a domestic landscape that accommodates nature within it.

A central oval island, with greeneries reaching as high as the mezzanine, houses some pieces of outdoor furniture designed by Nendo for the 2019 Outdoor Collection; the collection is also extensively displayed in the background to the space, which features an aerial wall with a pattern of circular holes and a raised floor finished in Beola Argentata, on which pieces designed by
Marcio Kogan / studio mk27 and Nendo are arranged. Views of green corners, with Beola paving and an abundance of vegetation, mark the rhythms of the house where nature has come inside.

The area behind the reception accommodates three different living arrangements and a 3.30x2.50 m video wall, projecting a series of videos produced by #minotti, including the video of their brand-new Waves Resort, the virtual architectural structure conceived by #minotti Studio, that contextualizes the 2019 Collection within a fascinating and spectacular Hospitality environment.

Two large spiral staircases, also provide a striking architectural element for the project, located at either end of the space, and leading to the upper level with its dramatic mirror ceiling, making the environment appear larger, with a large circular oculus in the centre overlooking the aisle that runs along the ground floor. The mezzanine, which winds along a sinuous route with curved walls,
is designed like the lounge of a hotel with a succession of conversation areas, and features a double-sided fireplace and a section dedicated to the operations area. A spectacular curved maxi screen – 6x2 m – invites visitors to watch the video dedicated to the 2019 Hospitality project and other videos produced by the company.

This exhibition project is an expression of Minotti’s new vision of interior #design, that characterizes the images in the 2019 catalogues and the press campaign, that soon will compete to create the customer experience at #minotti flagship stores around the world.
