Fuori Salone, April 8 – 14 For Brera Design Week, Contrada Erasmo will be exhibiting at Signorvino, Wine Shop in via Dante – Milan
During Milan #design Week, Contrada Erasmo’s surprising story unfolds for the national and international audience in the extraordinary space of Signorvino Wine Shop, situated in the Brera District, in Via Dante 15. The perfect match, given the philosophy that distinguishes #contradaerasmo.
As part of the social cooperative Contrada degli Artigiani S.C.S. in Como, #contradaerasmo is a project characterized by a strong social commitment, committed to prevent school dropout and to provide employment opportunities to young people who are unemployed or who face personal, economic or social difficulties. Contrada is a place where young students and apprentices work alongside senior makers who teach them crafts still considered a true form of art. Our apprentices are given a development schedule and we get them working straight away on projects, giving them the confidence to develop their skills, gather expertise in the traditional Italian crafts and create high-quality interior products destined to the Italian and international markets.
Contrada Erasmo is Contrada degli Artigiani’s #design workshop, offering a line of pure crafted and creative materials for accent walls and bespoke furniture for high-end interiors. A project by interior decorator textile and product designer Erasmo Figini, who proposes #design furnishings born from the creative recovery of waste materials. Among them, the beautiful reclaimed oak of wine barrels previously used in winemaking processes: barrique’s strong, rich and fragrant wood made unique by the endless hues and nuances impressed on barrel staves by grape wines as they age in the barrels. What better context then of a place that promotes wine culture? At Signorvino, in dedicated spaces – the shop window and a cozy basement showroom tastefully decorated by Erasmo – #contradaerasmo presents tables, mirror frames, separé and much more. All examples of the infinite possibilities of application of the proposed materials. Architects and interior decorators may choose among different materials and have their designs made by master artisans. New stories about ancient materials, repositories of the flavors and aromas of great wines.
As you will be able to discover, #contradaerasmo is not only precious products or interiors, it is also revitalization of materials. For Contrada, reclaim has an educational purpose: the strong commitment that sustains the company is that everyone can learn and everything can be recovered. As we recover and give new life to materials that would otherwise be destined to waste, we also offer job opportunities to young people who faced personal, economic or social difficulties, with the ultimate goal and challenge of encouraging the expression of each individual talent and capacity. All pieces that will be presented at MDW 2019 have as common denominator the craftsmanship of experienced artisans and the freshness of the young ones who designed and crafted such pieces.
