Mario Trimarchi a radical romantic

In the context of the programme dedicated to #design and architecture, from June 5 to 28, 2019 #mariotrimarchi presents his first individual show in Paris entitled #mariotrimarchi. A romantique radical. Réflexion, dessins et objets en équilibre in the salons of Hotel de Galliffet, headquarters of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Parigi (Italian Institute of Culture in Paris).

Designs and objects narrate the creative path of the architect, with the #design genesis recounted directly by the pencil of the designer. “We enter his creative laboratory and, from close up, follow the different phases of a process that – by association, subtraction, pauses and accelerations – gradually transforms the initial impression of a final object” recounts Fabio Gambaro, Director of Italian Institute of Culture in Paris.

The relationship between #mariotrimarchi and the #design is radical: the thinking, the poetry and the visions are the indispensable starting points around which the functionality of the object is developed. His #design approach is romantic because it questions the sense of things, their nature, and the incessant practice of #design allows understanding of the world surrounding it, playing in constant balance between light, shadow and chiaroscuro. His objects always originate from unstable geometries, far from functionalist symmetries, are blown by the wind, cut by the light of the sun and stop to be seen for only a moment.

“Design for him is the starting point, a binary trace, a witness to that creative relay that was born in the sketch, perfected in the project, adjusted in the prototype and takes shape in the product” continues Marco Sammicheli, who edited the introduction to the catalog.

Architect #mariotrimarchi adds: “Designing for me means trying to better understand the things that surround us. Drawing is a haunting and silent practice; when we draw the objects we are designing endlessly, we do nothing but build our own despite a very fragile membrane between what we want to say and what it is”.

The exhibition will be inaugurated Wednesday June 5th, 2019, at 7pm with a conversation between #mariotrimarchi and the designer Constance Guisset, which will address the themes connected with the future of #design. The theme strongly fascinates Constance Guisset, who in her #design process likes to “participate to the adventure of unknown concepts, responding to still unsuspected uses”. In fact, the designer tells us: “To prepare, we must work in continuous creation. Continueing to learn and improve your know-how. Getting ready to be surprised. Being amazed, not shaping first”.
