Pedrali Palace of Wonders staged in Stockholm

The Italian company takes part in the 70th edition of Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

For the 11th year, #pedrali takes part in the 2020 edition of Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, from 4 to 8

February, the leading Scandinavian #event for the #interiordesign and lighting.

The #PedraliPalaceofWonders booth, designed by the Milan based architectural studio Calvi Brambilla, welcomes visitors in Hall A07:18 with a contemporary setting characterized by an elegant and minimal style. The stand, with a markedly architectural feel, has real interiors in which the mood is defined by the products themselves

Guests are welcomed in a lounge area furnished with pastel coloured seating units from the Buddy collection by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, combined with the low tables of the same collection, which contrast with the warm earthy hue of the floor. Also the two-seater Buddy Sofa furnishes this space. Thanks to its four different densities of polyurethane foam supported by elastic belts, it offers greater softness.

Near the lounge area there is an outdoor environment where the key element is Tribeca collection by CMP #design, inspired by the classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven cord. Tribeca is one of the products selected for the ADI #design Index and competes for the Compasso d’Oro 2020. The Elliot tables by Patrick Jouin, with their organic yet elegant forms, complete this composition.

Another main protagonist of this setting is Soul Outdoor, the aluminium version with a seat made from shaped teak slats that is a special evolution of the original version made in bent wood and launched by Eugeni Quitllet last year. This must-have outdoor furniture echoes the same inspiration and flowing lines, but is now made from curved aluminium tube. The chunkily-proportioned tubing and glossiness of the aluminium make it a unique, innovative product that’s pleasant to look at and specifically designed with outdoor use in mind.

On the opposite there are the three settings of the Palace of Wonders, all characterized by a strong graphic sign, a cut, interrupting the composition and leaving space for a rational, explanatory component. The actual elements used for the set – from the floor to the walls, even the decorative objects – have been cut.

Folk collection, by CMP #design, is the key feature of the first set depicting a modern and welcoming pastry shop with green walls. The friendly feel of this seating, with the warmth of ash, the compact dimensions and soft, human lines seamlessly convey the idea of a chair that speaks a universal language. Key element is a lightweight, durable die-casted aluminium ring that becomes the structural and distinctive element which enables the piece to be easily disassembled, it is a guarantee of the strong company’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The set is completed by Stylus tables and Giravolta wireless lightings by Basaglia Rota Nodari.

The second rooms outlines a a restaurant that, thanks to its style, recalls the world’s top restaurants. A cosy, minimal space featuring neutral hues in Northern European style, paired with a classic Italian concept of elegance and simplicity, suggested by plaster bas-reliefs and ornaments on the walls. Héra, the armchair designed by Patrick Jouin, which embodies the concept of lightness fusing it with that of comfort and cosiness, takes centre stage. The renowned French designer wanted to emphasize wood - the ultimate natural raw material - which he chose to preserve by giving it an extremely refined, fluid form.

A century after the beginning of the legendary “Roaring Twenties”, main character on the scene together with Héra is Tamara suspension lamp by Basaglia Rota Nodari, named in homage to Tamara de Lempicka, the modernist painter and inspired to the shape of the headlights of early 20th-century automobiles. Inox tables, which this year are celebrating a special anniversary: 20 years from their presentation dated 2000, complete the set.

The flexibility of modern co-working spaces is finally represented within the last set which focuses on Temps, the multitasking Executive Chair by Jorge Pensi. Main features are a die-casted aluminium base with an elegant, essential #design and a comfortable, ergonomic seat, and the injection-moulded polypropylene shell fits around the seat hugging the user’s lower back, while the padding inserted in the polypropylene shell designs a continuous line. To complete the setting, Arki-Table adjustable with a height-adjustable top, which makes easier the workday in modern and dynamic offices and Boxie, the modern storage system with wheels by Claudio Dondoli Marco Pocci, that is both light and functional.

In the central area of the booth there is Jazz seating collection, including the new chair, which is combined with Fluxo tables by Luca Casini. The harmony of shapes, ergonomics and elegance of Jazz collection converge in its lightweight steel frame combined with the upholstered seat and backrest. There are also Lunar tables by Pio and Tito Toso and Jamaica seating by CMP #design. The inspiration for this collection is the famous Bar Jamaica in Milan's Via Brera, a legendary hub for intellectuals and artists in the twentieth century. Jamaica has a modernist #design, yet looks to the past to reinterpret historic forms with a touch of humour. The combination of different materials such as wood, metal and upholstery exemplifies Italian “knowhow”, one of Pedrali’s strong points.

Available in ash or American walnut, this armchair embodies the concept of lightness, fusing it with comfort: the backrest, in three-dimensional bent plywood of 6mm thickness, has a remarkably elegant and ergonomic #design, while its upholstered seat in polyurethane foam supported by elastic belts gives great cosiness.

JAMAICA

Design CMP Design
Designed by CMP #design, the name of this collection was inspired by Bar Jamaica in Milan's Via Brera, a legendary hub for intellectuals and artists in the twentieth century. The elegance of this chair speaks of an age in which art, technology and the imagination came together to give a human face to the aesthetics of machines, reimagining a peaceful world with creative sociability.
The result is a modernist collection which reworks the classic forms of the past with a contemporary edge by changing the ways in which traditional materials of bent plywood and tubular metal are used. In Jamaica, the

warmth of the ash plywood used on the legs, with a variable thickness, and the shell, featuring a central lumbar support, is masterfully paired with the tubular steel backrest, which adds a subtle chromatic element and is more curved in the armchair version. The shell can be fully padded and upholstered in fabric, optimising the comfort of the seat and allowing numerous customised options. The wooden elements of Jamaica are FSC-certified and finished with organic water-based paints. The use of raw materials sourced from certified forests and of water-based paints made principally from plant-derived resins is a guarantee of our company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Materials: legs and shell in ash plywood; steel tube Ø16 mm.
Finishes: bleached or black lacquered ash; powder-coated steel, antique brass, black nickel. Fabric or simil leather upholstery.

FOLK

Design CMP Design
Folk collection accentuates the quest for simplicity. Its friendly character, the warmth of ash wood, the soft and compact dimensions, human lines seamlessly convey the concept of a chair that speaks a universal language. The power of proportions is clearly evident in the time-tested forms, re-elaborated with the new possibilities offered by technology. A light, durable die-casted aluminium ring, becomes the structural and distinctive element which enables the piece to be easily disassembled for recycling purposes or to replace its components. The solid ash frame snugly embraces the aluminium ring that holds the seat, which is available in ash plywood, upholstery, or cane seat. This last version guarantees visual lightness and maximum durability thanks to the nylon yarn woven into the wicker material. The bent plywood backrest ensures total comfort and cosiness.
The collection includes a chair and a barstool in two heights (650 and 750 mm) with a footrest.
The wooden elements of Folk are FSC-certified and finished with organic water-based paints. The use of raw materials sourced from certified forests and of water-based paints made principally from plant-derived resins is a guarantee of the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Materials: frame in ash, ring in die-casted aluminium. Seat in ash plywood, upholstery or natural cane seat, with grey nylon yarn woven into the wicker.
Finishes: bleached or black lacquered ash; aluminium, polished or powder coated in various colours. Fabric, leather or simil leather upholstery.

TAMARA

Design Basaglia Rota Nodari
Tamara is a suspension lamp that successfully blends style and elegance. A century after the beginning of the legendary “Roaring Twenties”, Tamara takes inspiration from the shape of the headlights of early twentieth-century automobiles, paying homage to Tamara de Lempicka, modernist painter, icon of elegance and charm, who in her famous self-portrait is behind the wheel of a green Bugatti. Made from aluminium powder coated in various colours, Tamara stands out for its soft form, in which fleeting, rounded yet angular lines combine to make a versatile product. The light produced provides direct illumination of the surface beneath; however, an opening in the upper section of the shade, and the convex profile of the closer in opaline polycarbonate, allows a delicate band of light to shine onto the ceiling. Tamara offers interesting compositions for geometric effects that give a unique look to any room.

Materials: aluminium diffuser Ø180 mm; opaline polycarbonate closer.
Finishes: powder coated aluminium in various colours, or in satin brass or satin copper finishes; cable and ceiling rose available in black or white.

TRIBECA

Design CMP Design
Tribeca takes us back in time with a modern reinterpretation of classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven material. Tribeca is an outdoor seating collection that draws inspiration from childhood memories of summer: a sunlit Mediterranean square where children play, while a woven chair throws shadows of its cords onto the cobblestones. A true icon, revisited with new materials: a steel frame, combined with the elasticity of a profile in vertically-woven plastic material that is remarkably durable, easy to clean and colourful. Handcrafted with the highest attention to detail, this chair is incredibly soft and comfortable and puts a contemporary twist on tradition with its cutting-edge #design and quality. The cording is arranged to give a fresh and dynamic sense of rhythm and openness to every version whether it’s the chair, armchair, stool in two different heights, lounge chair or two-seater sofa.

SOUL OUTDOOR

Design Eugeni Quitllet
Soul Outdoor is a new, special evolution of the original version made in bent wood and launched by Eugeni Quitllet last year. The inspiration is the same that the Catalan designer defines as “a link between the concrete and the abstract, between the real world and that of dreams, between past and future... the unspoiled state of creation”. An armchair able to express an idea of uncontaminated and pure creativity, defined by its soul.
A curved aluminium tubular frame, with classical shapes but solid proportions, clasps an ergonomic seat in shaped teak slats, almost like an embrace. The contrast between the two outdoor materials and the aesthetic result of the aluminium shininess make this armchair innovative and original. The lines of Soul Outdoor are accentuated by the fluidity of aluminium, which ensures strength and lightness, while presenting a strong visual impact.
Materials: aluminium tube frame Ø30 mm and seat with teak slats.
Finishes: anodized aluminium, polished or powder coated, combined with teak seat with water-based oil treatment. Stackable
