“Glowing Fall” for Moroso at Milano Design City 2020

Moroso will be taking part in Milano #design City 2020 between September 28th and October 10th, with a brand-new display at its Milan showroom entitled “Glowing Fall” .

Milano #design City is an #event dedicated to design and innovation and has a particular focus on re-imagining urban spaces, sustainability and the circular economy. The aim of this year’s #event is to help the Italian #design industry get back on its feet and reopen its doors to the public, while complying with all health regulations and  being mindfull of the recent  difficult times.

To mark the occasion, Marco Viola Studio has designed a brand-new layout for the Moroso showroom in Via Pontaccio 8/10. Taking centre stage are the new GETLUCKY and RUFF armchairs, designed by Patricia Urquiola, and the TABA collection by Alfredo Haberli.

The GETLUCKY and RUFF “sister” armchairs experiment with binary geometry to combine their seat parts and backrests creating a masterful  effect.

GETLUCKY stands out for the simplicity of its forms. Created as a small “dining” armchair, its nature stands in its minimal shapes. A soft backrest wraps around the back like a ribbon before interweaving with the comfortable seat. Precise lines, which embody the grace and the elegance of shape.

With Getlucky, backrest and seat are geometric forms, perfectly balanced; this special dialogue between shapes, becomes solemn and sculptural in RUFF, the sister lounge chair. It is designed for the contract and hospitality sectors, and indeed any living space, as it offers the ideal forum for a conversation.

The wide armrests lie on the sides of the seat section and wrap around it firmly, even though they have just one single joint. The result is the harmonious combination between curved and straight lines – a simple geometry which creates and architectural interaction with the surrounding space. The Ruff armchair has a functional shape, while its personality does not give up being an object that inhabits the space it is placed in.

The TABA collection for #moroso carries forward the successful collaboration between the Swiss/Argentinian designer and the Italian company, renowned all over the world for its passionate eclecticism.

Häberli has created a family of products designed for existential multifunctionality: live, sit, talk, work. The overlapping of different organic lines, together with a softness characterized by symmetric forms, forges the TABA philosophy.

TABA is the name of an old Argentinian rural game, played with a cow's bone. The game of old time campesinos is one of skill, which must be played on soft and humid ground. Taba is a cattle bone onto which two metal plates are applied and which must be thrown with extreme dexterity, so that the winning side remains with the right side up.

The TABA collection consists of eight pieces: a sofa, two armchairs, a bench and four ottomans. They all provide a vast range of possible uses both in public and private spaces.

On September 30th at 6 pm Moroso will host a talk between Patrizia Moroso, the company’s Art Director, and her friend the designer Patricia Urquiola at its space in Via Pontaccio. The title of the talk is Arboretum: interconnections of ideas and visions between #design, cinema and life” and will be mediated by Gianluigi Ricuperati, writer, essayist and curator from Turin. The #event will be streamed live on @morosofficial #digital channels.

On Tuesday the 6th of October, #patriziamoroso will be joining the #webinar organised by ALPI, leader in the manufacturing of decorative composite-wood surfaces, titled “ALPI and #moroso: comparing two worlds”.
