Pantone 2021: Ultimate grey + Illuminating

Dainelli Studio | Faces

Designed by #dainellistudio, Faces is a small self-produced collection of decorative sculptures, tailor-made for Artemest, an Italian e-commerce platform which offers handcrafted, luxury #design items.

The project finds inspiration in cubist portrait paintings, where faces appear geometrically disassembled, superimposed, amalgamating space, time and multiple points of view.

Faces and profiles are a recurring theme in the aesthetic approach adopted by #dainellistudio, a pattern that often reemerges in the form of objects and decorative elements.

In the Faces collection this motif is portrayed using various types of marble and stone, deconstructed -as happens with cubist imagery- and reassembled to create new combinations of materials and forms. The result is a series of precious, thought-through objects which make a strong statement.

Dainelli Studio | Morgans bookshelf by Frag

Morgans, bookshelf designed by Dainelli Studio for Frag, uses two vertical bars that cross and fix five horizontal bars on each side. The #design of the metallic elements, with an almost industrial and constructivist style, creates a fascinating contrast with the refinement of the burnished brass finish and the precious leather covering of the shelves, creating an object with a peculiar character and a decorative aesthetic.

Dainelli Studio | Jannis | Gebrüder Thonet Vienna

For its first collaboration with Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, #dainellistudio designs Jannis, a collection of upholstered furniture with a strong link to the contract sector.

The aesthetic is minimalist but at the same time a little bit twee, typical of ‘70s #design

In Dainelli Studio’s project, the frame and the cushions’ solid shape – featuring practical curves but also a strong character – are bound together by the graphically powerful wooden elements.

This contemporary rigor inspired by the past defines the Jannis collection, which reveals its personality through its details: the wooden structure, that appears light but is actually solid, embraces the seat cushion and the back. The front leg rises upwards to define the thin outline of the armrest, ending in a brass semi spherical tip.
