Sampei is a special project, an authentic “ready-made”.
Obtained from a fishing rod, flexible and telescopic, it is a delicate and elegant sign, which brings to mind the subtle branches of a willow tree or bamboo canes floating on a light breeze.
Sampei is an unexpected gift, it is the magic of looking up, using light as a hook, and being amazed by so much weightlessness.
A small head atop a long, thin carbon fiber stem. At the slightest shift, it responds with a slight swaying motion, instilling a rhythm of slow waiting.
Since antiquity, fishing has been a powerful metaphor, which suggests a continuous and patient research, a curiosity that cannot be quenched.
In 2011 Sampei burst with the charm of a magical object, immediately establishing itself as an icon of international #design.
In these ten years we have learned to look at Sampei with different eyes, discovering, each time, new aspects: floor chandelier, graphic sign, blade of grass, ideogram, ...
We have decided to celebrate the tenth #anniversary of Sampei with a special and #limitededition.
Sampei Limited Edition is made with golden finished details and is engraved with the serial number.
Choosing a Sampei Limited Edition means participating in the thought and history behind the uniqueness of the project.

Davide Groppi: “Every time I face a project, I ask myself what I can do that is new, different and useful using the things and objects we already have. It is the theme of the ready-made, it is the surrealist approach to the project: looking for the new using objects that everyone has under their eyes, capturing and imagining unusual scenarios. I like courageous lamps, those that break into the scene and steal it, drawing attention to themselves.”
Enzo Calabrese: “A blade of grass that sways and flexes almost under the weight of the gaze, capable of capturing emotions and vibrating at the slightest movement. I never imagined that it would be so successful. Today I wonder what could have generated all this, it’s not just the #design, there is something more, which is not written...”
