ICON AWARD 2021: TEDDY BOY IS THE WORK PRIZED BY THE MARMOMAC POPULAR JURY

The Icon Award, the prize that for five years has determined the image destined to become part of the promotional campaign of the event, for the first time this year has been selected by a popular jury composed by operators and visitors, both experts and enthusiasts, of #marmomac 2021.

The participation to the voting, already high thanks to the substantial adhesion to the physical event and to the positioning of digital totems aimed at registering the preferences of voters, has been further increased by the possibility to vote through the Instagram profile of #marmomac.

As always, the works participating in the contest were those displayed in The Italian Stone Theatre, the project that puts in touch the excellence of Made in Italy – represented by product and technology companies taking part in the exhibition – with internationally renowned architects, designers, artists, in order to encourage #design experimentation with natural stone material.

In all, the works in the contest – among the exhibits In Our Time, Paths of Art, Brand&Stone 3.0, Designer Tables and Young Stone Project, were almost 40, each one with a peculiar concept and processing technique, all united by the same fil rouge, represented this year by the theme “Time In Stone” selected by the curators Vincenzo Pavan and Raffaello Galiotto.

The winner for #marmomac 2021 is Teddy Boy, from the exhibition Brand&Stone 3.0, curated by Giorgio Canale on a concept developed by Danilo di Michele, a project realized by QEEBOO MILANO in collaboration with the designer Stefano Giovannoni and the company Testi Group.

A provocative work that represents the emotional object par excellence, turning into a majestic, one meter high, marble object. Teddy Boy winks to the traditional toy with an irreverent attitude mixing teddy bear’s traits with “almost human” features.

An innovative Icon Award that distinguishes from past editions in both the method of selection and the result, for an even more avant-garde 2022 edition.
