Casalgrande Padana at the 2022 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan

Casalgrande Padana will be at the Salone del Mobile in Fiera Milano RHO from 7 to 12 June, Pavilion 15, Stand F31. Casalgrande Padana will present its collections at the Salone del Mobile S.Project. S.Project is a multifaceted space dedicated to design items and decorative and technical interior design solutions, covering all aspects of interior architecture and meeting the latest market demands.

Today’s architecture has become an art that creates next-generation buildings that respect the environment and play a primary role in the wellbeing of those who live in them.

Therefore, the home is no longer just a building furnished with objects and accessories. Instead, it’s a place that influences and resonates with those who live in it, creating an invisible link between humans and the surrounding environment. This vision that embraces disciplines such as epigenetics and quantum physics promotes an evolved, more conscious idea of contemporary living.

Domestic spaces have acquired new meaning in the past few years. They must be cosy, comfortable, hygienic, and salubrious but also modular and flexible, with partition systems that adapt to changing everyday needs. For example, remote work, webinars, call and video conferencing platforms have virtually opened our homes to strangers. Our private spaces have become public.

The use of eco-compatible and sustainable material and home automation technology has become critical for reducing energy consumption while increasing comfort and security.

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are the answer to all these requirements. This is possible because Casalgrande Padana’s innovative production processes ensure excellent aesthetic qualities and performance and help protect the environment. This way, the spaces they create are not only beautiful and functional but also safe and healthy, free of harmful substances, easy to clean, and environmentally friendly.

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware is 100% sustainable

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are guaranteed and certified. They are one of the most advanced and versatile solutions that sustainable architecture offers.

These tiles are made solely with natural raw materials, without plastic or harmful substances. They are fully recyclable, inert, fire-resistant, hypoallergenic, and remain unchanged over time.

Moreover, Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are made through a closed-cycle manufacturing process where sophisticated antipollution equipment allows all the components to be recycled and reused with substantially zero emissions or dispersions: 0% harmful emissions, 100% environmental impact reduction, 99.5% waste recovered, 74% self-produced energy, and 100% environmentally sustainable packaging.

This cutting-edge production process focuses on sustainability, scientific research, and the best environmental experiences. It also aims at reducing pollution as much as possible to protect the landscape and territorial balance.

This commitment is demonstrated by Casalgrande Padana’s many certifications, including the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and ISO 14001 certifications. But also by the company’s Code of Ethics, which regulates the environmental policies related to its production cycle, and its environmental management system compliant with the EMAS Regulation to improve its environmental performance. Casalgrande Padana has also published an environmental statement validated by the certification body.

Maximum hygiene at home with Bios Antibacterial®

Bios Antibacterial® is Casalgrande Padana’s exclusive silver-based treatment that helps eliminate 99% of bacteria from the tiles’ surfaces. This antibacterial treatment is incorporated into the porcelain stoneware tiles. It’s always active, day and night, and doesn’t need UV radiation to be activated.

Bios Antibacterial® uses a technology based on silver ions, which removes bacteria and prevents their proliferation by inhibiting bacterial metabolism. Laboratory tests have shown that Bios Antibacterial® can remove 99% of the four main bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). In addition to its bactericidal properties, Bios Antibacterial® prevents mould, yeasts, and fungi, ensuring salubrious spaces that are also pleasant to the nose even if there’s no light.

The Bios Antibacterial® treatment is embedded into the tiles before they are fired, becoming an integral part of them. Unlike other treatments applied once the tiles are cold after being fired, Casalgrande Padana’s antibacterial treatment is wear-resistant and lasts over time.

What makes Bios Antibacterial® so effective is the use of silver, which has been used for its antibacterial properties since ancient times. It’s no coincidence that silver is also used to make everyday objects (cutlery, teapots, coins, jewellery). Small amounts of additive are enough to obtain an efficient treatment. In addition, silver is safe for human health and the environment. It’s non-allergenic in contact with skin and doesn’t release harmful substances.

Porcelain stoneware and home automation

The Ars Ratio interlocking system is a quick, complete, and elegant tile dry laying system that integrates home automation systems and meets even the most demanding design needs.

Unlike traditional systems, where the various functions are activated through switches and controllers that don’t interact with each other, home automation systems allow for the coordinated management of all the devices in your home.

So, for example, you can turn the lights on and off, open and close curtains, blinds and windows, manage multiroom climate control, energy savings, irrigation systems, and even sound systems both inside and outside the home.

This interlocking dry laying system creates a smart floor that conceals all the systems’ sensors and control units underneath it. This way, you can monitor all your appliances and devices and save energy. Cable raceways of varying sizes and electrical boxes can be installed under the porcelain stoneware tiles to make the wiring invisible. All this enhances the comfort of your home in one simple step.

The advantages of interlocking dry-laid porcelain stoneware tiles

A simple tongue-and-groove anchoring system helps create a stable surface offering infinite configuration options without glue or expensive priming operations. But there’s more. Repairs, expansions, and retooling are done in a few easy steps without creating dirt or dust.

A secure anchoring system

Each panel is laid directly onto the cement screed or the existing floor. A tongue-and-groove system along the perimeter of the panels keeps them together, ensuring stability and preventing horizontal movements due to tangential loads. This way, the floor can be walked on immediately. As a result, this interlocking system is perfect for giving spaces a new look keeping everything nice and clean.

Energy efficiency

Reducing heat loss through all surfaces has become an essential requirement for new buildings. And the Ars Ratio interlocking system helps achieve this goal through two types of backer board: expanded polystyrene foam or fibre-reinforced gypsum. Thanks to its extremely low thermal conductivity, polystyrene helps reduce heat loss through floors, positively impacting the building’s thermal balance. On the other hand, radiant low-temperature heating systems have become popular due to their high energy efficiency. And as a thermally conductive material, fibre-reinforced gypsum helps accumulate and radiate heat in all the rooms.

Waterproof

Thanks to its effective sealing, this interlocking system prevents liquids from seeping into the substrate, thereby protecting the underlying layers.

Fire-resistant and sound-absorbing

This flooring system combines porcelain stoneware’s fire resistance with a non-flammable backer board with a Bfl-s1 reaction to fire class. Moreover, thanks to the sound-absorbing properties of the backer board, this Casalgrande Padana interlocking system helps improve acoustic performance compared to traditional floors.

Porcelain stoneware tiles for outdoor spaces

Casalgrande Padana also has the perfect solution for outdoor spaces: Extragres 2.0. This range includes the stone-, wood-and concrete-effect colours of the Amazzonia, Chalon, Country Wood, Manhattan, Pietra Baugè, Pietre di Sardegna, and Kerblock collections. And now, it’s been expanded with the new Nature, Metropolis, Petra, and Le Ville collections. These perfectly squared and rectified porcelain stoneware tiles are 20 mm thick and meet any design requirement. In addition, they are versatile, wear-resistant, and feature an anti-slip finish.

Extragres 2.0 tiles can be laid on screed using glue, ensuring high load resistance, or dry-laid on sand, gravel, or turf. In this case, they can be walked on immediately, without the need for screed, mortar, or glue. Moreover, these tiles’ 20 mm thickness allows for creating raised floors using fixed and height-adjustable polypropylene pedestals. Outdoor raised floors are easy to remove and inspect. They also allow you to hide the electrical and plumbing systems underneath them.

Casalgrande Padana’s outdoor porcelain stoneware tiles are frost-resistant, withstand loads, and ensure light fastness. They remain unchanged under any weather condition. They don’t fear moisture or seawater and are mould- and moss-resistant, thanks to the Bios Antibacterial® technology (available upon request). These outdoor tiles are easy to clean and can be removed and inspected quickly, even after the floor is finished. All these technical features make porcelain stoneware one of the best-performing and sought-after materials. Its environmentally friendly, physical, and aesthetic qualities make porcelain stoneware the perfect material to renovate any setting and adapt it to changing times and needs.
