Arper celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Bardi’s Bowl Chair

Arper celebrates a special #anniversary: ten years of Bardi's Bowl Chair, a chair designed by Italian-Brazilian architect #linabobardi and produced by #arper in a limited and numbered edition of 500 pieces.

The iconic Bowl Chair was designed by #linabobardi in 1951, but it was produced for the first time by #arper in 2012. The Italian company identified itself in the #design approach of #linabobardi, her values and vision, hence the decision to bring to light her work and contribution, both in terms of #design and historicity. The Bardi's Bowl chair was developed in #collaboration with the Sao Paulo-based Instituto Bardi, whose aim is to protect and promote the precious work of #linabobardi. Furthermore, from 2012 to 2016, #arper sponsored the traveling exhibition “Lina Bo Bardi:Together”, a journey that helped bring to light the architect's works and artistic productions, together with her thoughts and ideas.

Over the years, the Bardi’s Bowl Chair collection was enriched with new versions. In addition to the black leather model, the original one, #arper introduced solutions that put color at the center and express the energy of the architect's approach, respecting the eclectic and contemporary essence of the project and creating a connection between Italian and Brazilian culture. Since the project always offers new inspirations, in 2021 #arper collaborated with Rubelli, a historic Venetian fabric brand, to upholster the Bardi's Bowl Chair with two fabrics: Lollipop and Eureka. The goal was to celebrate the special Golden Lion Ad Memoriam, awarded to #linabobardi at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2021.

Also in 2021, #arper launched “Lina Bo Bardi in Full Color”, an exhibition dedicated to the Italian-Brazilian architect #linabobardi and the different interpretations of color expressed by different contributors in the making of the iconic Bardi’s Bowl Chair.
