Living in a houseboat: H2O Design’s proposal for the Milano Design Week 2023 docks in the Darsena

From the 17th to the 23rd of April 2023 H2O #design lets you experiment with its made in Italy houseboats

Two H2O #design floating units connected by a platform, moored on the pedestrian promenade along viale Gabriele D'Annunzio, will be giving life to an exhibition space. This is the idea behind H2O Design’s stage for the Milan #design Week.

The two models of houseboats presented, Find Your Flow, with a modern, clean and straight #design, are an hybrid between avant-garde architecture and high-level nautical design, between customization and serial production, in which the opportunities given by the promenade become a way of experience life outside the city, while remaining just a few steps away from it.

Designed with large windows that bring guests closer to nature, these will make them witness the all-Italian way of producing efficient, comfortable and classy houseboats, during the days of the Milano #design Week, and will show them a new proposal for our future: changing the way we live.

H2O #design Srl – a young start-up in the Italian shipbuilding sector, which already boasts a production of 4 houseboats a month – promotes an innovative concept of life on the water by exploiting all of its characterics, such as sustainability, energy independence and the low environmental impact of these mobile structures, which can be used for residential and commercial purposes.

Design was an immediate priority for the company, that decided to combine the needs of living in a modern apartment or in a business with the independence from the mainland provided by boats, tackling also different issues, such as the ones of sustainability and the limits of building spaces.

The exhibition for the Milano #design Week consists in the use of internal and external spaces in multiple ways: one houseboat will be set up for residential use, thanks to the participation of sponsor Xam and the partners Kartell, Firmamento Milano and the new brand De Rerum. The second one, which has been decorated interiorly by Pictalab, will create an immersive environment where the guest will be able to catch their breaths for a few minutes.

TAFF, the floating central platform, will be dedicated to musical performances and to its use by the public, that will be able to observe its interiors through the windows. Meanwhile the upper terraces of the boats (the flydeck) will host an exclusive area dedicated to the display of #design products.

In particular, the new ToBe Milano brand will find space on the left terrace, with its proposal of furnishing elements with an infinite amount of customization possibilities; for the occasion it will also be presented in its first collaboration with Pollini Ceramiche. A catering service with food and beverage will be serving the public on the flydecks of the boats and on the central platform.a

During the exhibition H2O #design will present its brand new H2O WaterCT development project, which was conceived in partnership with some of its suppliers and which proposes the creation of a scalable floating village, completely autonomous regarding water and energy supplies.

“The business network, trait d'union for the development of this ambitious project, combines our Find Your Flow residential and commercial units with the modularity of the photovoltaic docks and with an integrated treatment system of fresh and sewer water, offering energetic efficiency and scalability, with very low environmental impact.”
