Working with the latest technology to create a new generation of SOWDEN lighting, homeware and personal accessories.

As a result of continuing research to find the best available technology, #SOWDEN have enriched their lighting collection SHADES with new models of Portable Battery Lamps and Ceiling Lamps. Together with their Homeware and Personal accessories, they will be presented in their showroom 44SPAZIO during #design Week 2023.

Specifically, for all their Portable Lamps #SOWDEN have designed and manufactured their own custom LED Light-Cap, with an integrated touch sensitive dimmer control and a unique screw-in fitting that allows it to be easily replaced, when necessary.  An innovation common to all their new Portable Lamps.

Similarly, for their new Ceiling Lamps #SOWDEN have designed and manufactured two sizes of their own custom LED lightbulb. Giving warm light, they use the E27 (E26/US) screw that fits a standard lightbulb holder. As a visual feature of the new Ceiling Lamps the #SOWDEN Bulb are central to the #design.

In addition, their Portable Battery Lamps, typically used at restaurant tables or in the home where power outlets are impractical, are fitted with replaceable batteries. Rather than only relying on the lengthy recharging of them in the lamp using the USB cable, flat batteries can be quickly changed with fully charged replacements permitting immediate use. For example, in restaurants, the batteries can be swapped during service, without ever leaving guests in the dark.

These two practical new features - replaceable LEDs and batteries - are a first by #SOWDEN. It means that exhausted batteries or worn-out LEDs can be replaced by new parts extending indefinitely the life of the product. An innovation whereby #SOWDEN avoid lamps being sent back to the manufacturer for repair or the unthinkable option of throwing away a product that no longer works.

Thermal Flask manufactured by moulding stainless steel into shape by high water pressure, laser welding two ‘skins’ of steel together to create a space between a double walled structure and creating a vacuum in the space by using a vacuum chamber. With this manufacturing method the #SOWDEN Thermal Flask achieves high insulation properties that keep drinks warm for 12 hours or cool for 24.

Pepper & Salt uses a grinding mechanism made from Alumina ceramic, one of the toughest man-made materials. Together with the 304 stainless steel body and a polypropylene top and base, the #SOWDEN Salt & Pepper is a perfectly functional table accessory.
