We are proud to present #yuzuruyamakawa in our ICONS collection, a collection of furniture designed by some of the greatest designers and architects of our time. Yamakawa’s iconic designs are known for their beautiful, sculptural lines as well as their focus on ergonomics and comfort. Yamakawa created many of his furniture on the basis of an open-lattice structure, as known from the Eiffel Tower, making it possible to create great strength in lightweight constructions. In 1996, Yamakawa designed the Rap and Funky dining chairs, which perfectly exemplifies the deep understanding Yamakawa had for the materials and his unique sense of shaping.

Yuzuru Yamakawa (1933-2012) is known for his great passion for rattan, a material that he dedicatedly worked with for more than 40 years. In his work, he merged the elegant lines from his home country Japan with the traditional craftsmanship of Indonesia. His amazing work created a new, more exclusive era for rattan furniture.
