The authenticity of ceramic tiles: the leitmotif to WOW’s new collections at CERSAIE
Wow #design, the #design studio specializing in small-scale signature tile designs, is all set to dazzle visitors once again at the international trade fair #cersaie (Bologna, Italy) with the presentation of a wide variety of new designs and tile collections. All of them are conspicuous for their chic, sophisticated air, combined with the authenticity synonymous with ceramic materials.
Once again, WOW’s stand, designed in conjunction with Summumstudio, is a ground-breaking, modern exhibition space. A big ceramic curtain, through which light filters, rather like latticework, accompanies visitors on their journey of discovery as they contemplate the different collections developed for the coming season, all with a strong #design appeal.
Tile patterns and colour transitions able to jazz up surfaces in contemporary style, differing volumes conceived to breathe new life into settings, and revamped traditional tile designs are some of the characteristics of the collections.
Raster, boundless tile designs
With the Raster collection, architects and interior designers can create endless different modern patterns and grid-like designs. The tiles are divided into horizontal parallel lines, creating rectangles and squares of different sizes. These patterns, etched directly into the surface of the tiles, can all be mixed and matched, since they fit in geometrically with one another. The 15x15cm tiles come in a choice of geometrical patterns and colours.
Melange’s sophisticated colour transitions
Melange is a sophisticated tile collection, with sinuous transitions from one colour to another on the same surface. Pink morphs into blue and blue into green on the surface of the same tile in designs of different combinations. These transitions bring to mind the canvas of a contemporary art painting. The tiles come in a 11.7x54.2cm format in a matt finish.
Volumetric interplay in the Faces collection
With the Faces collection, walls can be brought to life and infused with movement, thanks to the volumes and waves on its tiles. The long slender tiles can be used on any curved surface. In addition to the flat tile model, Faces also features four different volumetric tiles, from wavy to triangular models, all designed to enhance living spaces in a multitude of ways. Faces comes in a 5x40cm format in a choice of eight colours.
Bit, inspired by digital graphics
Bit is a collection made up of unusually small tiles. Its format conjures up the world of digital graphics since, thanks to its size, visual effects reminiscent of digital ones can be achieved. Bit’s rectangular tiles come in a 3.7x11.6cm format and its squares ones in a 11.6 x11.6cm format in a choice of 9 colours and a matt or a high-glaze finish.
Twin Peaks and Antique Twin Peaks is a 7.5x30cm tile collection featuring angular waves, in three different widths. All three can be combined to form eye-catching horizontal bands with a strong sense of movement. In contrast, the Antique series recaptures the beauty of traditional 19th century tiles, with the addition of a new modern twist.
The collections on show are: Abbey Stone, Antique, Bit, Colour Notes, Faces, Halo, Icon, Melange, Potters, Raster, Roots, Twin Peaks and Pools. See the catalogue.
WOW and Summumstudio: an internationally acclaimed duo
Yet again, a new step forward has been taken by WOW in the creation of stellar designs and stands for demonstrating the potential of ceramic tiles. On numerous occasions, the studio has received recognition for doing so from important international #design bodies, forging an international reputation in the fields of innovation and creativity.
WOW’s stand at COVERINGS (USA) was awarded the prize for the best stand at the 2023 edition of the trade fair. The tile firm was also singled out to receive a prize at the prestigious Casa Decor 2022 Awards for its innovative space “Unexpected Hamman”, designed in collaboration with Summumstudio. This same project was also awarded a prize at the 2023 Spanish Ephemeral Architecture Awards.
WOW’s stand at the 2022 edition of #cersaie won an Emporia de Oro at the Spanish Ephemeral Architecture Awards, and its singular Icon tile model was the winner of the product #design category of the 2022 RED DOT #design Awards and 2023 IF Awards. As for its graphic #design work, WOW was also awarded the ANUARIA Spanish Graphic #design Award for the #design of the catalogue and packaging of its Icon tile model. All these projects were carried out in conjunction with Summumstudio.
WOW, signature tile design
WOW is a specialist in the #design and development of bespoke one-of-a-kind signature tiles, tailored to meet individual projects and the needs of architects and interior designers. This makes the studio unique throughout the world.
With its 20 years’ experience in tiles for material specifiers, WOW is present in 76 countries worldwide. It currently has a turnover of almost 53 million euros, with yearly rises in its annual turnover of about 40%, and a stable workforce of 300 people from the local community.
Its main target markets are the USA and European Union countries. Its goal is to continue expanding, mainly in these two markets via material specifiers through the #design of small-format tiles with a high added value.
