Living Divani, the caliber of Lukas Scherrer

Caliber is an important working tool for anyone who is projecting something. For this reason, Lukas Scherrer called his design studio "Shibuleru", a phonetic distortion of Schiebelehre that derived from German and it would meaning caliber.
Shibuleru is based in San Francisco and was created with the aim of illustrating the idea that design is the engine of innovative brands, products and services.

At the beginning, Lukas Scherrer comes to discover the reality of Living Divani as a customer. From this chance encounter, starts the designer’s desire to work with the brand. The first project is a bookcase, an ambitious design that, through the technical contribution of the Living Divani team, becomes a prototype. This is Aero: the first of many members of the family of accessories that gives character and functionality to spaces.

From that moment, Lukas Scherrer continues to make those sketches and implement their transformation.
Next, the birth and development of two of his creations: the Aero D desk and the Ticino chair.

Aero D

During the design of the Aero bookcase, Lukas Scherrer imagines different elements with the same style, almost to compose a family. From the first sketch, it was already clear that the project would be followed by other objects born to combine the essentiality of modern design to functionality.

Consequently, the designer creates Aero V, then Aero B, up to Aero D, where "D" stands for desk.
Also in this case the original concept, the leitmotif of all his creations, was to conceive very thin shelves, with equally thin uprights mounted "staggered", to have the impression of an object able to stand almost by magic.

"We tried to keep it as elegant as the bookcase, adding functional features to a desk," says Lukas Scherrer. For this reason, Aero D has a double shelf, convenient for storing things, and a cable compartment that allows you to comfortably use electronic devices without creating imperfections to the sight, even when these need to be recharged.
This is the design of Lukas Scherrer, an idea wrapped in a magical veil that can give an aura to the product but can, at the same time, reveal its nature and its secrets.

Sedia Ticino

The most recent creation of Lukas Sherrer is Ticino, a seat that recalls the emblematic childhood memories of the place, in particular a chair on which he used to sit when he was at his grandmother’s house. The object has become over time a piece of family history, passed today to the daughters who now play and sit.

Lukas Scherrer, starting from the original design, removes all unnecessary parts of the structure; the aim is to recreate a chair with simple and essential lines, an icon of purity. Imagining a more rounded back support than the first prototype, Scherrer traces an enveloping curve that can embrace the body, sustaining all its forms. The backrest appears as the elliptical orbit of a planet that, in the end, stretches to define the legs that reinforce the entire structure.
The object is proposed as a childhood memory relived by an adult who preserves the traditional weave and integrates a touch of modernity, also given by the concept of stackability that gives the seat greater versatility and adaptability.

Here, to the verticality of the front legs, there is a slight inclination of the rear legs that protrude in the curve of the structure behind.

"A chair inspired by the traditional farm chairs of Ticino and northern Italy: friendly and familiar, comfortable, light and stable. A simple and elegant line, like a brush where colors are functionality, material, technology and tradition." - Lukas Sherrer
