ETHIMO - Outdoor living

Material and colour as the elements of the project, design and creativity as lifestyles, tales for the telling, atmospheres to be enjoyed: Ethimo is not just a company, it is a way of being and an experience, it is a window out onto the world. Open air, like the lifestyle it proposes; Open mind, like the willingness to be contaminated by different experiences; Open Project, like the spirit of collaboration and sharing of experiences with design and different designers; Open world, like the strategy of showroom openings that are rapidly happening throughout Italy and Europe. Creativity, passion, knowhow and coherence are the guidelines that govern all the activity by one of the most prestigious companies on the international sector of outdoor furnishings. Ethimo is all this - attention to the environment, a close relationship with its home territory, the possibility of expression through a partnership between nature and manmade that pursues beauty and maximum comfort levels. An inclination to excellence that comes from afar, an ability to interpret every client’s need that derives from knowing how to listen, design ideas that are the fruit of knowledge of materials, their production techniques and how they react and transform when exposed to the elements. The result is elegant refined collection, full of joy and fun, projects that fully express the many aspects of the outdoor world in all its, solutions that are full of character and yet discreet, perfect for any setting. Chairs, tables, armchairs, sunbeds, lamps and much more or furnishing green areas and gardens, terraces and pool sides, outdoor areas and paths. Great attention is paid to the specific characteristics of the location, its distinguishing features, the overall theme of interaction between surfaces and architectural aspects, the comparison between the solid textures of the elements and ever-changing conditions of the surrounding natural environment. Collections with different taste and inspiration, products that recall different traditions and places, all however featuring a style coherence expressed in attention to detail, fine surfaces and contemporary yet never banal shapes. Expressions evident in an Italian Style followed through enthusiastically by a young company that is however backed by great experience. The adventure started in 2009 as a result of the love and passion for the garden of a family that for over 30 years has revolutionised the outdoor and garden sector. A familiar imprint that step by step has led to the formation of a modern company with great managerial competences, an agile flexible organisation that prioritises innovation and research in order to continue growing, anticipate trends and trace the lines of “open-air living” of the future, in both residential and contract projects. This is the creation path covered by all Ethimo collections, developed thanks to technical skills that are in the company’s DNA and through an ability to dialogue with different professional figures. This is also testified by the company’s distribution strategy, which after total renovation of the Milan showroom and the opening in Paris in 2014, will inaugurate two new locations in Rome and Turin and the first showroom on the Côte d’Azur in 2015. Constant growth, a success story, a future mapped out but still to unfold - all thanks to unpredictable discoveries, unexpected emotions and continual surprises!    Ethimo has worked in collaboration with Italian and international designers and planners, benchmark figures in interior design, each with their own identity, style and approach. Such as Patrick Norguet, the French designer who developed Knit for the company, the collection of tables and chairs with teak structure and woven rope seats. Prestigious projects that help to establish Ethimo identity as a mix of the fullest expression of ‘Made in Italy’ and a strong international spirit. News 2015 - Projects for outdoors Tables, chairs, armchairs and also chaises longues, furnishing accessories, lamps for outdoors and much more. Our range of solutions for outside sees the addition of new collections, confirming our continual research into shape, material and finishes suitable for elegant, functional outdoor furnishings that are light yet resistant, contemporary and durable over time.   Our knowledge of materials and their specific characteristics, our attention to the issue of sustainability and healthy living and our ability to interpret client needs are the reasons for the constant growth of Ethimo, which has rapidly become one of the most important companies in the outdoor furnishing sector. A solid, innovative business, deeply rooted in its territory of origin and open to contamination even from sectors far-removed from its own, a main player of the real ‘Made in Italy’, made up of creativity and substance, design ideas and pragmatism. Ethimo combines knowhow and a spirit of innovation to create ideas for the residential and contract sectors that define a style, anticipate trends, and imbue each project with identity and originality.   Aesthetics and functionality are the two souls that rub shoulders in all our lines. Freedom, a joyful attitude and essential elegance are the salient features of collections that are perfectly suited to man-made contexts as well as more natural settings. Terraces and gardens, outdoor areas and pools – Ethimo has an ad hoc solution for any scenario, each one characterised by a different style yet all sharing the same attention to detail and finishes and backed by study of the best ergonomics. Colour is one of the dominating themes and its main source of inspiration is the landscape itself, with its infinite variations and different hues. The collections are made using top quality materials, such as teak and aluminium, synthetic fibre and steel, treated to preserve their natural appearance and also to guarantee their integrity and technical performance. The new products presented in this catalogue are the result of the daily efforts of a close- knit team working in synergy to transfer to the product the strategies of enthusiastic, competent management, the entrepreneurial vision of a family that has “open-air living” in its DNA. You will see the collection that came out of collaboration with Patrick Norguet, the first step in an approach to the design world that sees our company partnering this French designer’s creativity. Again this year we have decided to pay tribute with our catalogue to the splendid sights in Puglia, Sicily, the Amalfi Coast and the South of France. You can admire the beauty and the uniqueness of these locations in the unusual photos by Bernard Touillon, Frederic Vasseur and Dario Fusaro. Happy browsing!   Knit — design by Patrick Norguet Previewed in Milan during the International Furniture Show 2014, the Knit collection inaugurates collaboration between Ethimo and the French designer Patrick Norguet, a major player in design today, featuring a pureness of shape and solid sensations that pursue harmony, warmth and beauty. Ethimo has translated Norguet’s design, the original synthesis of aesthetics and functionality for life in the open air, into articles where attention is paid to every detail: from the wooden structure in teak of the tables and chairs, to the weave on the armchair, in synthetic fabric rope, elegantly ideal for outdoor use. The Knit project displays an intelligence combined with refinement in every single detail, such as the central groove on the round folding table, which can be used as a carrying handle. Meridien  Meridien is a collection of tables and chairs by Ethimo for life in the open air where the warmth and natural elegance of teak teams with the lightness and modernity of aluminium. This family of furniture, which already includes tables and chairs, now sees the addition of a new sectional sofa system that allows the creation of an almost infinite series of compositions. Again featuring the Meridien teak/aluminium combination, these elements are completed with comfortable cushions on seat and back. Their design coordinates with the other pieces in the Meridien collection, to create a totally matching, completely functional outdoor area.    Costes The Costes collection by Ethimo, characterised by the pickled finish that gives the teak its fascinating “worn” look, sees the addition of a new element: a big table (300 x 110 cm) that will lend character to the entire outdoor area, with its warm inviting presence. Its essential lines with their carefully studied details are perfectly in harmony with the other pieces in the collection, from the sofas, also available in varnished mahogany, to the round table with in-built lazy Susan, chairs and sun loungers. To obtain the pickled effect, the teak is brushed to highlight its grain and pores, then protected with a surface finish that produces its typical grey colour and makes it pleasing to the touch. The special appearance of this treatment also has a practical side as pickled teak does not require a protective sealant and can be cleaned simply with soap and water. The whole line will also be available in natural teak from 2015. The garden sets are rounded out by a wide assortment of fabrics. Laren The Laren collection, an Ethimo success on the outdoor furnishing panorama, extends its range of products and possible use with the introduction of two new articles: a chair that joins the existing folding model and a handy small round table that can be used as a side table and is also ideal for the contract sector. Laren tables and chairs come in pickled teak, which gives a pleasing vintage look to these elegantly essential, timeless furnishings, produced by Ethimo with the usual quality of materials and attention to detail.    Stitch The Stitch armchair is a pleasure to look at, thanks to the light motif and dynamic design of the metallic net on the seat and seatback, but it is also durable and practical to stack: two features that make it perfect for contract. It can be completed with a comfortable cushion.    Flat The most recent new entries in the Ethimo outdoor furnishing collection include the extendable Flat table. This stands out due to its truly huge size - up to 360 cm in length - combined with its very versatile suitability in terms of surroundings and layout. Its essential design is in fact perfect for use with various kinds of chairs and accessories, in either traditional or contemporary settings. Made from metal treated with processes that guarantee its durability, it is fitted with an extending mechanism in stainless steel. Flat comes in a wide range of colours, with epoxy coating specific for outdoors, using paints that respect the natural environment and user health.   Carrè — design by Niccolò Grassi In outdoor furnishings, lighting must meet not only a practical requirement, it is also an important way of highlighting the magic of a building or a natural setting. This is why Ethimo, together with landscape designer Niccolò Grassi, has created collections of lamps specific for outside, inspired by the shapes and materials used in traditional Italian and Europe gardens, reworked with a contemporary slant. This philosophy has also led to the new Carrè collection of lamps, in metal and pickled teak, their refined vintage formal spirit teamed with cutting-edge technology: LED lighting. This light source combines superior energy efficiency, in line with the principles of eco-sustainability, with longer life and reduced maintenance. These are two much-appreciated characteristics in both residential and contract sectors.
