Live Design style explained by Victoria Yakusha (film+interview)

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

In the beginning of 2020 numerous #design experts and professional media called  #faina collection by Ukrainian architect #victoriayakusha “a trend of the year”. Such iconic pieces as Bandura vase, Toptun chair, Strikha lamp and Domna armchair have been featured in various trend lists, became favorites among TOP interior designers globally - from New York to Melbourne, from London to Mexico City.

Being a new and undiscovered, Ukrainian contemporary #design however needed to receive a definition. #design curators and experts in different times gave such descriptions to the Yakusha`s style, as “modern primitivism”, “naïve design”, “rough-hewn style” etc. However, the author of authentique #design collection from Ukraine entitled her own works as “live minimalism”. We asked #victoriayakusha to explain, what does it mean, how has the process of crystallization of her style transformed with time and what values does she give to her works today.

“Live minimalism for me is a combination of 2 important ingredients – a living spirit of the interior or #design piece, a story behind it, an emotional connection to its owner – on the one side, and clean, minimalistic approach, which has no place for useless details – on the other".

"I came to realization of this concept after almost 15 years of practicing and searching of what I really appreciate in the #design, what gives meaning to my work. I am still in a process of crystallization of this #design philosophy - as for me it is not just a style or trend, it is a way of living - and with each new project I see it more and more clear".

"I always tended to create simple laconic forms, honest #design that mercilessly cuts off all unnecessary things. When you combine natural materials, their beauty, diversity and imperfections with traditions of craftsmanship, then you have a live #design – where is no space for fakes, arrogance or imitation.

Our live #design collection and interior projects awake almost all human senses - touch, sight, hearing, smell - due to it`s rich texture, familiar and simple shapes, and with line of home scents we also interact with sense of smell. Our clients tell us, that #faina pieces become real “companions” at their homes, they set the mood and tone for the entire interior and can fit into almost any style. For me it means, that we bring joy to #people through our works".
