Michael Anastassiades. Cheerfully Optimistic About the Future

Il progetto rappresenta la prima personale in Italia di Michael Anastassiades (Cipro, 1967). La pratica di Anastassiades, designer di base a Londra, dove ha avviato il proprio studio nel 1994, esplora le nozioni contemporanee di #cultura ed estetica attraverso una combinazione di discipline quali il #design del prodotto, l'arredamento e il #design ambientale, trascendendo spesso le distinzioni tra diversi ambiti della creatività. L'ideazione della #mostra, sviluppata in collaborazione con lo studio di #michaelanastassiades durante l'ultimo anno, è accompagnata dal desiderio di costruire un progetto dalla forte componente "hand-made" nella realizzazione dei lavori, coinvolgendo in prima persona l'artista e i suoi collaboratori.

Simone Fattal. A breeze over the Mediterranean

Fondazione ICA Milano in collaborazione con Pompeii Commitment. Materie Archeologiche presenta la #mostra A breeze over the Mediterranean, prima personale in Italia di Simone Fattal (Damasco, 1942). Tra le più importanti artiste contemporanee, #simonefattal è nata in Siria e cresciuta in Libano; oggi vive e lavora in Francia. A seguito di un lungo processo di ricerca svolto nell'ultimo biennio, Fattal ha studiato la storia universale e le molteplici storie individuali di Pompei, traendo ispirazione dai manufatti pompeiani, dai loro archetipi culturali, religiosi, sociali e storici e dalla loro commistione fra gli elementi minerali, vegetali e animali di cui essi erano originariamente composti e dalle funzioni culturali che furono loro attribuite.

La #mostra è parte del programma annuale Ceramics. Ideato da #fondazioneicamilano, il progetto indaga l'utilizzo della ceramica come medium artistico, presentando una selezione di ricerche che attraversano il '900 e raggiungono la contemporaneità.

Michael Anastassiades. Cheerfully Optimistic About the Future

The project represents the first solo show in Italy by Michael Anastassiades (Cyprus, 1967).
The practice of the London-based artist, where he established his studio in 1994, explores the contemporary notions of culture and aesthetic thought a combination of disciplines such as product #design, interior #design and environmental #design, often transcending the distinctions between the different fields of creativity.

The ideation of the show, developed by Anastassiades and his studio during the last year, has been accompanied by the desire to build a project characterized from the strong "hand – made" feature for the realization of the works, involving in first person the artist and his collaborators.

Fondazione ICA Milano in collaboration with Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters presents the exhibition A breeze over the Mediterranean, first solo show in Italy dedicated to Simone Fattal (Damascus, 1942). #simonefattal, among the most important contemporary artists, was born in Syria and grew up in Lebanon. Today she lives and works in France. Following to a long research process developed during the last two years, Fattal studied the universal history and the multiple individual stories of Pompeii drawing inspiration from the Pompeian artifacts. She has also been deeply inspired by their cultural, religious, social and historical archetypes and by their mixture between the mineral, vegetal and animal elements of which they were originally composed and by their cultural functions.

The exhibition is part of the yearly program Ceramics. Ideated by #fondazioneicamilano, the project surveys the use of ceramic as an artistic medium, presenting a selection of researches that cross the 20th century and reach our contemporary time.
