Designers and new Ichendorf collections 2021

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Ichendorf company history began back in the early years of the twentieth century in a small town near Cologne, named Quadrath-Ichendorf. There, many master-glaziers used a mix of substances, among which was silica, to give shape to objects able to meet the refined taste of that period. A stylistic code defined by precious ornaments, which had the undiscussed leading role of the collections proposed up until the fifties of the past century, when a very important change is established: to favor clean shape and purity of material. Old form and adornment were abolished, in an endless search for new, popular and no longer exclusive appearances. That leads us to the creation of modern designed objects. In 1990 #ichendorf style center is established in Milan, creative point of convergence of artists and designers. It is a new story through which artists and designers come in contact with the very heart of the material, to combine different signs in a single poetic shape, able to encolses a continuous search for details, always respecting history and master- glaziers’ expertise. The materials used range from stoneware and porcelain, introduced in 2019 and 2021, to traditional glass, crystal and borosilicate, with a process guided by ancient knowledge. The encounter and constant exchange of tradition and innovation, always aimed at the pursuit of beauty in its purest forms, gives life to all #ichendorf objects. In the new collections we find objects that enter homes with delicacy, elegance, brilliance and find a right and human place there.

SOLIFLOR VASES KADO

These days, vases are often left empty. Or they have to make do with presenting a flowering branch snatched from the corner of the park. The dry contour of the stem, outlined in the transparency of the glass, dips into a veil of water at the bottom of the vase. At the top, a funnel keeps the bloom central: pure ikebana.

The collection of hand-made and flame-worked borosilicate glass vases designed by Luca Ladiana are equipped at the mouth with a funnel-shaped diameter adjuster that can be removed when the vase is filled with water, for maintenance, or in the event that it is used for displaying a large bouquet of flowers.

DENIS GUIDONE Living between Tokyo and Milan, he earns national and international awards like Ida #design Award, Idot, Bruno Munari award, ADI index 2010, special mention Young #design award in 2011, “the #design of amazement” at Young & #design 2012. He also designed for Fontana Arte, Roche Bobois, Nava #design, Serax, Shuji Nakagawa.

NOMU

The collection in hand-made, flame-worked borosilicate glass designed by Denis Guidone is made up of a carafe and glasses. The juxtaposition of imbalances caused by the inclined base creates a pleasing effect of suspension and lightness and also facilitates the act of pouring. The double wall in borosilicate glass means the collection is ideal both for hot drinks, thanks to its ease of handling, and for beverages to be kept cool.

ALESSANDRA BALDERESCHI Milanese, she studied industrial #design at the Domus Academy. She cooperates with various brands implementing lighting, décor and furnishings designs. Among her illustrious exhibitions: Triennale di Milano, Saint Etienne Biennal, Inside #design Amsterdam, Seoul #design Festival and Moss Gallery, New York.

GREENWOOD PORCELAIN

The Greenwood collection designed by Alessandra Baldereschi is inspired by a walk in the woods in different seasons, and it describes the colours and the precious gifts that nature bestows on us. Fruits of the forest, berries and the little flowers that are encountered during the stroll decorate the porcelain. They seem to be freshly picked and placed lightly on the plates to form a delicate decoration. Now the collection, which is known for its borosilicate elements ranging from tumblers, jugs, and components for tea and coffee, has been expanded with mugs and plates in porcelain. There are 6 different subjects (cherry, blackberry, acorn, lily, strawberry, and blueberry) featuring hand-crafted and hand-painted three-dimensional elements. A decoration is applied to each dinner plate, fruit plate, bowl, and mug to create a complete table setting. All the elements of the collection are stackable and dishwasher safe, and they are suitable both for home and professional use.

MARCO SIRONI Graduated in architecture in Milan. Experiences in construction industry, yacht #design, glass and furnishings #design. An architect whose projects are mainly based on Technics in his elder meaning of Competence, Expertise, Art. Every object, other than to usability and formal values, has to be coherent to its materials and production processes.

SOLISTI

The elegant collection of goblets and wine glasses designed by Marco Sironi, made in hand-blown and handcrafted crystal, has now been expanded to include the grappa goblet, and the aromatic grappa goblet, in a smooth and optic version. It features a very thin wall which, thanks to the use of a new glass alloy, is able to absorb almost any impact without breaking.
