NEMO for XO ATELIER: Next-gen design to reflect contemporary Emirati style

XO Atelier presents a new F+B concept, Society Dubai, creating the next level of local #design narrative based on a deep understanding of regional consumer behaviour and taste, inspired by the UAE’s natural landscape.
“It was hugely significant for our client that we establish a visual philosophy that appealed to the contemporary Emirati consumer. One that demonstrates a more minimalistic, pure approach to lifestyle and that subverts gilded notions of what constitutes the ‘local’ #design aesthetic. Together we developed a look and feel that represents the nouveau majlis, an easy and pared-back approach to living, that is

Geometric shapes, clean lines and clear, balanced spatial planning characterise all of XO Atelier’s work and have been key to the studio’s success and popularity with clients. In Society Dubai the spacious arrival zone and open-plan layout, as well as the centrally located, easily visible bar creates an easy traffic flow for clients that also allows for changing social distancing rules.
The cafe’s glass facade is paralleled with a sand-coloured linen curtain which creates a level of privacy required by the cafe’s local patrons, while inside the spacious placement of the furniture and seating areas were specifically #design to provide multiple seating options for guests while instigating a natural level of social interaction. Taking inspiration from the region’s natural landscape, earthy tones and soft shades were key in determining the scheme’s fresh organic palette executed through sensitive material choices and textural accents throughout. Bright green accents reflect the region’s populous palm trees, with the tactile green velvet contrasted with boucle fabrics in duotones paying homage to beautiful mid-century techniques. As with all XO Atelier projects a high quality selection of materials was essential in elevating the scheme to an effortless and casual luxury, with the support of market-leading brands like Kvadrat, Billiani and
Pedrali.
