MARUNI COLLECTION 2022: The welcoming atmosphere of "EN" roundtable and chair by Cecilie Manz

From 7th to 12th June at Salone del Mobile.Milano, Maruni will present the MARUNI COLLECTION 2022, which includes the "EN" series designed by #ceciliemanz. The name "EN", meaning "one" in Danish and "a circle", "connection" or "destiny" in Japanese, is especially meaningful for both Maruni and Manz.

This new project was born from the desire to create a wooden round table, paired with a chair, characterized by rounded motifs that gives a welcoming atmosphere. As #ceciliemanz explains, "a round table gives rise to a certain atmosphere and a sense of 'being together' –simply by virtue of its circular shape. A table is such a vital piece of furniture: many situations in our everyday life unfold around a table: dining, playing, working, spending time with family and friends."

The chair shares the same embracing #design: the curved backrest reminds of the ancient Greek klismoschairs, and the legs characterized by a loop frame, give a sense of continuity creating a balanced soft-sharp appearance. Here the attention to a round and welcoming shape is paired with a high level of coziness, as #ceciliemanz says: "I have tried to keep the chair modest in size and expression but still with character and good seating comfort."

The chair, realized in maple wood, features a textile or leather seat covering, available in a palette of delicate and natural shades, as the designer comments: "maple wood was chosen for its light tone and even structure, which works well with the subtle textile colors and natural tanned leather selected for the seat."

The new partnership with #ceciliemanz signs an important further step in the brand's consolidation process aimed at establishing Maruni as a leading company in the worldwide production of high-quality wooden furnishing. Also the MARUNI COLLECTION 2022 reflects the company's misson to create unique items born from the union of cutting-edge technologies and traditional craftsmanship, which was appreciated also by the designer: "I like the fact that Maruni is both very local and very international. One immediately senses the company's strong connections to its roots in the Hiroshima area coupled with a clear expression and a razor-sharp presence in the international scene."

The complete MARUNI COLLECTION 2022 will also include the HIROSHIMA Armchair designed by Naoto Fukasawa offered with a more spacious seat variant adding elegance and giving a more comfortable seating experience, as well as SETO, a 3.2 meters large table with solid wood top. In addition, items such as T1 Stackable chairs and Fugu dining table and lobby chair designed by Jasper Morrison, and Tako Armchair and tables designed by Naoto Fukasawa will be shown for the first time to the international fair.
