Marco Piva and Foglie d’Oro: the concept of interior #design as an intimate, universal journey

An architect and designer who sees himself – and introduces himself – first and foremost as a traveller, always in search of new experiences to nourish his multi-faceted ingenuity. An Italian brand with an international vocation, which over the years has gained a solid foothold worldwide, from the USA to Russia and the Far East, thanks to the role played in important projects in the residential and hospitality sector.

The meeting of minds between #marcopiva and Foglie d’Oro is as natural as the material in which their bond is crafted – wood, in all its marvellous versatility – and the shapes that inspire the floors in the Elementa collection they have created together.

So when we describe this encounter, the idea of a journey, of “paths travelled”, is much more than a simple metaphor, encompassing the talent and the vision of two outstanding names in Italian #design. Over the years, both have succeeded in engaging with often profoundly different cultures and lifestyles, bringing a practical, innovative approach to teaming luxury and elegance with emotion, matter, creativity and expertise.

In this intimate, yet universal territory, wood provides both the material and the inspiration for surprising, versatile, creative cross-fertilisation elements able to tune into the most diverse lifestyles.”

The Elementa flooring collection: a contemporary idea of sustainable luxury

Marco Piva’s international experience and his aptitude for travel and exploration – his anthropological vision of living spaces – is the source that inspires this collection, which springs forth spontaneously, yet is designed with consummate skill, offering a chance to rediscover the creativity implicit in natural shapes by turning them into a #design experience. The six different types of flooring are able to bring on board a variety of influences, while remaining distinctly recognisable and maintaining their identity.

The floors are made from only the finest woods, which have no secrets for Foglie d’Oro, thanks to the complete control exercised over the production chain, from the choice of the material directly at the source – responsibly, sustainably managed European forests, with privately-owned sawmills – through to installation. The company boasts a technical team of impressive experience and a 100% in-house production system, with an unrivalled amount and quality of wood at their disposal.

“From the moment we first met Marco Piva”, explains Foglie d’Oro CEO Fabio Brotto, “it was clear that our synergies would be focused on parquet flooring, and on a desire to rethink the very concept, turning it into a composition system able to satisfy a wide variety of requirements in terms of both style and function. There could be no better definition of this synergy than the word Elementa: the collection designed by #marcopiva offers designers and customers a series of elements, of resources designed to shape creations in which luxury is a personal, sustainable concept. For years now, Foglie d’Oro has been investing its strength and awareness in an approach heading in this direction, and the collaboration with #marcopiva embodies a natural meeting of minds, experiences and visions: an authentic meeting of two ‘paths travelled’.”

The grain and the distinctive features of the wood provide the inspiration for patterns with a clearly recognisable decorative impact. Eco, Ritma, Zago, Unda, Alveo, Regolo: each module has its own distinctive charm, in which nature and #design combine to offer a variety of layout options, each of which can be enhanced with material or colour contrasts to create surfaces that take on a sophisticated allure thanks to the inserts available, which can be chosen both with different wood finishes and with metal or marble features, creating original combinations suitable for a range of diverse living styles.

The Walnut and Oak wood are enhanced by the architectural intuition that allows #marcopiva to visualise a complex, complete setting in a single, simple element. Thanks to a wide range of colour customisation options and the way the wood engages with other exquisite materials, Elementa floors can be viewed as elements making up an organism open to virtually endless creative possibilities.
