From ornamental to graphic, from organic to architectural, Illulian presents the new creations by leading women designers

June 7 2022 - Illulian, the family-run Italian leading brand in the custom handmade production of luxury rugs since 1959, joins the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Milan’s Salone del Mobile. This year, the event aims more than ever to capture the feeling of a symbolic rebirth – marked by the usual great energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to restore normality and ensure a dazzling success.

For this important occasion, Illulian showcases its fantastic universe, full of colour, shapes and versatility, expressed through the inexhaustible creativity of four exceptional designers: Paula Cademartori, Elena Salmistraro, Paola Navone, and Zaha Hadid.

From the very beginning, Illulian has believed that for a luxury company with an eye to the future, success lies in collaborating with the most prestigious artistic minds in the worlds of architecture, #design and fashion. These strong relationships have been, and always will be, fundamental elements in the strategic development of a company with a unique outlook and original style.

A well-known fashion designer of Italo-Brazilian origins, Paula Cademartori, has transferred her textile know-how to launch her first rug line for Illulian Limited Edition. The “Eclectic Yard” Collection of Himalayan hand-knotted rugs are true objects of desire for contemporary #design lovers.

At the next Salone, the new versions of Eclectic Florem, two versions of Floralia Yard, Habitus Garden and Multifarious Flora will be presented in a vibrant palette. The patterns and shapes are inspired by the colourful flora that conveys the artist’s eclectic vision and her personal take on interior #design.

Suffice it to say that Elena Salmistraro won the “Best Emerging Designer” award at the last Salone del Mobile. Her bold genius and volcanic creativity are focused on the continuous search for a meeting point between art and #design and the expressive language of individual objects. Geometric shapes and straight lines represent the unique and enchanting appeal of Guitar – yet, thanks to the lively shades Elena has chosen, it also tells the poetic story of a musician who magically transforms reality into fantasy through their art.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential designers of her generation, Paola Navone has drawn on her love of travel to distant paradises: her new offerings for Illulian the rug “Fish”.

With a pop-art spirit, this entrancing rug is born from the encounter between Illulian’s wonderful artisan tradition, and the unconventional creativity of Paola Navone and Otto Studio. With its cheerful fish-shape in blue – a recurring shade in her work – Fish can be combined with other rugs for an unexpected decorative touch, or hung on the wall as a tapestry.
