Patoso, winner at the DNA Paris and archiproducts design awards 2022

PATOSO

Winner at the DNA Paris, Archiproducts #design Awards and #nycxdesignawards2022

The charismatic pouf with legs designed by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco continues to reap success, and on this occasion wins the highest awards at the DNA Paris and Archiproducts #design Awards 2022 in the furniture and outdoor categories, respectively.

The DNA Paris #design Awards pay tribute to the world’s best designers in the disciplines of architecture, #interiordesign, landscape #design, graphic #design and product #design. They select the work of architects and designers who improve our daily lives through practical, beautiful and innovative #design.

The jury consisted this year of Fernanda Marques (Brazil), Hitoshi Abe (Japan), Romain Colin (France), Simon Hamilton (UK), Nancy Hou and Josh de Sousa (USA), Kirsten Algera (Netherlands), Nader Tehrani (USA), Joran Briand and Arnaud Berthereau (France), Yoko Choy (Hong Kong), Nu Goteh (USA), Perrin Drumm (USA), Maya Moumne and Hatem Imam (Lebanon), Leon Sun (China), Sasha Pas and Aglaya Demidenko (Russia), Daisuke Kitagawa (Japan), Benjamin Weaver (UK), Fabricio Teixeira (USA), Louisa Falkenberg (Sweden), Sébastien Roussel (France), Lara Mendonça (Brazil), Inês Graça (Portugal), Amit Gupta (India) and Michael Malapert (France).

The Archiproducts #design Awards, on the other hand, celebrate the excellence of international #design. Each year, a multidisciplinary jury evaluates hundreds of products submitted as candidates and rewards companies and designers who have worked together to create solutions that perfectly balance aesthetics, function and innovation.

The jury for this year’s awards was made up of internationally renowned designers, including Manuel Aires Mateus (Portugal), Chrissa Amuah (UK), Michael Anastassiades (UK), Davide Angeli (Italy), Julia Capp and Denis Montel (France), Giovanna Castiglioni (Italy), Gabriele Chiave (USA), Domitilla Dardi (Italy), Giorgio Donà (Italy), Fabio Fantolino (Italy), Felicia Ferrone (Italy), Alain Gilles (Belgium), Francine Houben (Netherlands), Yama Karim (USA), Pitsou Kedem (Israel), Satoshi Kurosaki (Japan), Chris Laugsch and Oliver Laugsch (Germany), Andrea Mancuso (Italy), Edoardo Monti (Italy), Nifemi Ogunro (USA), Dominique Petit-Frère (Ghana), Emiliano Ponzi (Italy), Quincoces-Dragò (Italy), Andrés Reisinger (Spain), Massimo Roj (Italy), Lukas Rungger and Stefan Rier (Italy), Edoardo Tresoldi (Italy), Ben Van Berkel (Netherlands) and Enrique Vela (USA).

It is an honor for #diabla Outdoor designs, characterized by its fresh, colorful and original personality, to be recognized at three unmissable events on the world #design scene. The DNA Paris and #archiproductsdesignawards2022 join before the end of the year the NYCxDESIGN Awards 2022 - which last May crowned PATOSO with the award for best #design in the Outdoor seating category -

PATOSO, a pouf stuffed with recyclable polystyrene beads turned into a small lounge chair

The pouf with legs PATOSO is Alejandra Gandía-Blasco’s homage to one of the most renowned masters of industrial #design, Achille Castiglioni. Castiglioni’s teachings, which in turn paid homage to Marcel Duchamp’s ready-made objects, resulted in everyday objects reinvented to improve their use, through research and irony. PATOSO is a soft pouf to which, in an unprecedented decision, legs have been added, this combining an informal character with functionality. This allows you to enjoy this seat in different situations, creating the most original atmospheres.

PATOSO is based on the aesthetics of a beanbag, filled with recyclable polystyrene beads covered with water-repellent fabric. The padding, evenly distributed in three compartments, adapts to the body in a natural way, thus guaranteeing comfort. Inside, it conceals a textured thermo-lacquered aluminum structure, which is revealed in the form of the small tubular legs that raise the pouf off the ground.
