All the EMU novelties at Salone del Mobile 2023

EMU’s constant innovation and the new Made in Italy modular collections.

Continuous investments in high-tech, research and automation, Italian expertise and international spirit have been turned into 140,000 m2 of factory space, 3,800 tonnes of raw materials transformed annually, representation in over 85 countries worldwide, 600,000 pieces produced each year, and over 60 collections by international designers.

EMU’s story spans 72 years of Made in Italy production, based on an unstoppable spirit of innovation and cutting-edge technology, plus a constant focus on environmental, economic and social themes. Its furniture embodies a timeless, long-lasting, functional, comfortable, top-quality and sustainable design.

A sustainability that has always been ingrained in the company: from the #design of easily separated elements focusing on their reuse or correct disposal at the end of their life, to the use of 100% recyclable raw materials or, when possible, from recovered as well as responsibly managed natural materials, plus the minimisation of plastics in packaging through the alternative use of recycled cardboard. All aimed at producing high-quality and long-lasting furniture with characteristics guaranteed by the direct and continuous control of all stages of production.

Similarly, the company pays close attention to reducing its reliance on fossil fuel energy. A 1 megawatt photovoltaic system is, in fact, currently being built to supply the company with clean energy. EMU’s #green values are also reiterated by globally recognised environmental and safety certifications, as well as by its commitment to draw up a sustainability report that highlights all the goals it has achieved and aims to achieve.

EMU also focuses closely on social aspects and operates according to ethical and inclusive models that encourage the full expression of individual potential. All this because the company is well aware that the undisputed quality of its products stems from the perfect balance between technology and human capital, a truly invaluable asset generated by the enthusiasm and expertise of people, which has been renewed from one generation to the next since 1951.

EMU respects and follows the #design guidelines provided by the Salone del Mobile in designing and implementing the stand layout for the trade fair. In terms of the reusability of the construction material, the company has accordingly come up with a #design that is easy to assemble and disassemble, thus allowing the stand structures to be reused, as well as the separate collection and end-of-life disposal of materials. In addition, the lighting equipment is all latest generation with low energy consumption.

At the 61st edition of the Salone del Mobile, EMU is showcasing new products stemming from a development philosophy that constantly reinterprets the way we #design and produce, in a perfect combination of innovation and continuity. An example of this is Cabla, designed by Lucidi-Pevere, a modular upholstered seating system, as well as the new modular outdoor kitchen Emily, the new dining table solutions for residential and contract environments and the new Code seat aimed at street contract.

Cabla, designed by Lucidi-Pevere, was created from the successful meeting of two worlds in which functionality and aesthetic appeal are on an even par. On one hand, the simple, timeless #design of the stainless steel structure’s metal core, a product of EMU’s historical expertise. On the other, the comfort and rich colours of the fabrics and cushioning designed specifically for the collection and dedicated to the outdoor world. Cabla is a modular upholstered seating system designed to allow countless configurations using just 3 modules: a single linear seat, chaise longue and armrest. Thanks to a highly intuitive connecting system, armchairs and sofas can be composed in all different shapes and sizes, which by adding the chaise longue, ensure a totally relaxing experience. The inspiration for the name Cabla is taken from its highly versatile layout potential and its ability to adapt to a wide variety of uses, particularly environments near the sea thanks to the use of stainless steel in the structure. The collection also includes a matching metal mesh coffee table.

Emily, by EMU, is the new modular aluminium outdoor kitchen with a stoneware countertop, consisting of elements that can be laid out individually or in combination to create comprehensive, functional solutions. All the modules can be open or closed with intermediate shelves or side containers. Each module can also be used for the various functions of cooking, washing, barbecuing or as a simple countertop. The visual appearance is perfectly in tune with the outdoor nature of the product: the structure is, in fact, raised off the ground on slimline legs creating a sense of lightness, while the side container has two handles that open on both sides, adding softness and sinuosity to the shapes.

The new Code street contract chair, featuring an industrial #design and a comfortable, rounded shape, is being introduced by the company as part of its ongoing effort to reinterpret historical classics in steel.

Tavolo Quadro by EMU is new square table, made of steel, that has been specifically designed to make social occasions and sharing more enjoyable. Its generous size can comfortably accommodate up to eight people. The #design features a central removable and replaceable insert, available in perforated steel, FSC teak or porcelain stoneware.

The Terramare family by Chiaramonte-Marin has been expanded to include two new sizes and shapes. The new Terramare table, made of aluminium and porcelain stoneware, is, in fact, available in both the 4-seater version (100x100cm), ideal for the contract sector, and the 8-seater version (150x150cm), perfect for residential areas and various alternative uses.

The Plus4 family grows. The new Plus4 extendable round table joins the range, featuring the same modern leg #design in a round version. A product that perfectly combines practicality and space, taking on an oval shape when extended. Its #design pairs well with softer, more rounded seats.
