London Design Fair opens!

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

We’re celebrating our trade fairs. Today London #design Fair kicks off, filled with content under one roof. Find out what to experience below. Material Matters, on until 23 September, celebrates innovation and looks to the future of #design. Plus, we’re spending time in four districts today, from Bankside to #brompton, many of which have late openings. Find these on the full LDF23 programme.

‘Mandala Lab’ by The Rubin Museum of Art
Union Square, E14
From video and scent to curated percussion instruments, the storytelling journey inside Mandala Lab is inspired by powerful Buddhist principles. The experiences are by multidisciplinary artists including Laurie Anderson, Sanford Biggers, Tenzin Tsetan Choklay, Billy Cobham, Amit Dutta, Sheila E, Peter Gabriel, Palden Weinreb and more. Learn how they designed the space for wellbeing.

‘Aura’ by Pablo Valbuena
St Paul's Cathedral, EC4
Experience ‘Aura’ inside St Paul’s Cathedral in this film. This live installation transforms the sounds present in the Cathedral into a pulsating line of light projected at an architectural scale. The piece is deeply intertwined with the context and fabric of Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. It introduces new ideas while seamlessly integrating into the building and its daily life as if it had been part of the original #design. ‘Aura’ listens to the sound, voices and music generated in St Paul’s and materialises them into a spectral, three-dimensional aura. “Aura’ does not construct another experiential layer as cinema can do. It is a fully embodied experience,” says Pablo Valbuena of the piece.

Chelsea and Brompton
Brompton brings together global #design brands, designers and cultural institutions to present an engaging programme of exhibits, talks and installations. The curatorial theme 'Conviviality – The Art of Living Together' celebrates design’s ability to connect us with the people and places around us. Pictured: All Together by All in Awe.
Chelsea was established in 2019 and celebrates the neighbourhood’s extraordinary #design heritage. Home to bohemian free-thinkers and creatives throughout the centuries, #chelsea continues to flourish with a wealth of independent artistry, artisanal markers and more.

In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to discover, for the first time in the UK, pieces of the new 2023 collection, such as the new 'Mateo' table and 'Augusto' sofa by Vincent Van Duysen, Molteni&C Creative Director, and the 'Porta Volta' chair by Herzog & de Meuron. Head to the showroom this week.

Daydreaming on the King’s Road
King’s Road, SW
If streets could speak, the King’s Road’s would be an epic tale: a haven for aesthetes and creatives, from the site of landmark feats, such as the earliest-ever recorded film shoot, to where an eclectic mix of the famous and infamous lived, worked and partied. Join us on a stroll along this famous high street to uncover its cultural touchpoints in history, spanning the aristocratic origins as King Charles II’s private road to mighty modernism that is on offer nearby. Find out all the stops.
